Negredo has started just one of City’s last five games, but insisted he had not given up on going to Brazil as part of Spain’s World Cup squad.
“It’s my dream to be involved in the World Cup,” said the 28-year-old. “It would be great and I’m fighting for it.
“Not playing regularly means the national manager has not seen much of me - but I won’t give up. Quite the contrary - I am full of optimism. I believe he will still have confidence in me.
"I will carry on working hard in training and score as many goals as possible. It’s about carrying on with the same dynamic that served me so well earlier in the season.”
“I settled in right from the word go, although initially my time on the pitch was limited,” said Negredo. “But I worked hard and when I got the chance I scored goals.
“I then picked up a shoulder injury, which affected things. We were struggling up front suffering from injuries and needed all the support we could get.
Hot and cold: Negredo hit 23 goals in his first 33 City games, then none in his last 14
Alvaro Negredo is determined not to let his Manchester City goal drought wreck his World Cup dream.
Negredo, who scored at a prolific rate at the start of the season, has not netted in 14 appearances for Manuel Pellegrini's title-chasers.
The Spain star’s last goals came in City’s 3-0 Capital One Cup semi-final, second leg at West Ham in January.
A shoulder injury, coupled with a loss of form and confidence, has seen Negredo lose his status as an automatic pick, with Edin Dzeko ahead of him in the Blues' pecking order.

Negredo, a £20million signing from Sevilla last summer, made an immediate impact at City, scoring 23 goals in 33 appearances.
He quickly formed an understanding with strike partner Sergio Aguero, but January 21 at Upton Park was the last time Negredo got on the score-sheet, a shoulder problem he picked up when falling awkwardly in that game marking the start of his barren spell.
“I settled in right from the word go, although initially my time on the pitch was limited,” said Negredo. “But I worked hard and when I got the chance I scored goals.

“I was playing games when I wasn’t fully fit - but things have turned around now and I am fit again. I am not featuring as regularly as before.
“I turned it around earlier in the season so I have to turn things around again. It’s a case of working hard to get as many minutes on the pitch as possible to repay their faith in me.”
Despite his dip in form, the man whose playing style lead to him being nicknamed The Beast, remains a cult hero among City fans and is desperate to start scoring again to help the Etihad club win the title.
“The fans have been great with me since the start,” said Negredo. “The first time my dad was at a game he heard this [chant] and thought, ‘Why are they booing my boy?’ Fortunately my wife explained that it’s a way of appreciating me and represents my strength and bravery.
“I’ve been delighted with the way the fans accepted me. I will be fighting hard to return their support.”
