Neil Young Red & Black scarves now available on 6th Jan

Think it's a bit harsh having a go at the club for this. They tried to respond to fans' whishes and will have had to rely on suppliers making these over the Xmas period. I expect they would have normally got something like this from abroad but won't have had time at short notice.

It would make sense for City to ship them all down to Leicester and have a few City staff handing them out as you go through the turnstiles. Easy

Sorry I didn't mean to sound as if I was criticising the club. As I have said on another thread, I can be a bit flippant at times so if it came over as a criticism it was not really meant to be.

I think the club responded well and I will be at Leicester with or without a scarf to show my appreciation for Neil Young. :-)

Yeah I saw your other thread mate, lol. I wasn't really having a pop at you or anyone else for that matter. Just saying I think City now are a lot better than City of old for this sort of thing and I think they will have tried their best. I must admit it will make it harder for me to pick up mine and I'm not even getting to Arsenal and back like you are. Think it's just a shame it hasn't quite come off with them not being ready for Sat.

Message from Alex Channon; Firstly, I've noticed someone has today put a posting on about the black & red scarves. On my behalf could you ask all who are collecting scarves to make a suggested donation of £5-00 to the Neil Young Appeal. All money raised will be split 50 50 between Neil Young and the Cecelia Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital where Neil is receiving treatment for his terminal cancer.

I was posting it on Alex's behalf, maybe he didnt know though I did tell him fans are making a donation. He is having trouble posting messages, hence asking me.

I bet the lads that sell 'em on the streets have got 'em made. None of that money will go to charity. Poor show.

It's certainly not hard to get 4,700 scarves, Shinawatra soon got 10 times that amount for the Derby match.

Some will see this as an opportunity and will have them on sale today and Saturday.

If there is anybody going to the Leicester game who doesn't want the vouchers for the red & black scarf would you please send the vouchers to me. I have had several requests from Blues overseas to get a black & red scarf. I'm not at the game and would also like a scarf for myself. A donation will be paid into the Neil Young Appeal for every scarf I purchase. Please send your vouchers to:

Alex Channon
Penalty Spot
11 Thirlmere Avenue
Swinton
Manchester
M27 5XD

I can add that Neil & Carmen are very grateful for all the cards, messages of support and tributes that have been sent to them via myself. Please keep them coming to my address and I will post them on.

Neil is really not well at the moment and is struggling with the chemo but is battling on in true City style. Your messages etc really do lift him.

There is a paypal button set up for those wishing to make a donation to the Neil Young Appeal. The paypal can be accessed by googling www.mcfcsc.com All money raised will be split 50 50 between Neil Young and the Cecelia Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital where Neil is receiving excellent treatment.

What are they playing at? Was hoping to get ours before the Blackpool game, won't be able to get to the ground again before travelling to Leicester.

Badly thought through, City.

My understanding through communication with the club is the problem is with the supplier. The club wanted the scarves to be available for collection at the Blackpool game and initially that was agreed. I'm told that because of the volume requested (3,000) they can't be produced quickly.

The club want to see how well the scarves go before deciding to produce more after the Leicester game.

It is a pity the scarves are not available now but it is not the club's fault. I'm sure this delay will have an impact on the number of Red & Black scarves to be seen at Leicester. Although the Leicester game is a tribute day for Nelly may I remind all the Neil Young Appeal is an ongoing thing and will not be wound up for several months yet, probably at the end of the season.

No reason why Black & Red scarves cannot be worn for all future games this season. I'll be wearing one if I can get hold of one. The vouchers issued with the tickets can be used after the Leicester game but I'm hoping (or dreaming) that all 3,000 scarves will be on show at Leicester.

With regard to the Blue & White Scarves produced for a previous derby game that was planned well beforehand but kept quiet to prevent the rag end of town knowing anything about it.
