Vassell, Caceido, Dunne, Richards, Fernandez, Hamman, Ball were all crap today. Vassell and Richards have been crap all season so are we getting rid of them. To say keep the likes of Vassell becasue he tries is comical - lets herald the arrival of the likes of Bellamy and bring in Robbie Savage if thats what your after.
Today Vassell did fuck ll in the way of tracking back on the right so why are we attacking Elano, it was Sturridge who was screaming all sorts at Bowen in the second half while Elano was calmy trying to talk to Hughes who didnt even look at him but gave him a dissmissive wave of the hand. That was right in front of me and the Bowen/Sturridge argument was tells you a lot about the lack of harmony, Sturridge kept coming back over and Bowen was less than constructive.
Elano has more of the ball than any other city player in the games he player, he never hides when things are going poorly, where was SWP at Blackburn (oh sorry cant criticise Shaun can we).
At no point has Elano directly criticised Hughes in the press - if you actually read the article he says he praises Hughes - but points out that he hasnt spoken to him in two weeks, now if my boss didnt say anything to me for a fourtnight id be pissed and my company would go down the pan. Mh on the other hand has directly criticised people in the press but i suppose thats ok.
Elano is a top class player - we are not at the stage where we can talk about leaving out 25% of the Brazillian national teams midfield. When i watch him play for them he doesnt look like a luxury, so whats different? Maybe the problem is - as with many other members of the squad -that he is low on confidence and disallusioned with the horrific management.
Why is a player who is at his best playing through the middle playing on the left? First half Elano made good runs, played some great balls cross field to SWP/ Zabaleta and the other way to Sturridge - going to the Hull game the reason Ireland kept finding himself in acres of space was Elano drawing players and releasing the ball to him. Elano started most the moves that Ireland has the diret assist for.
You can point at his form - he was magnificent first half of last season, played injured over christmas and made a number of appearances at right back!! - but have you all forgotten that. This season he has played in all the games we have won - conincidence?? probably not. His form has not been consistant but name me a player who has been... no go on... oh yeah right - no ones has.
