Never Forget!

It is so good having Bobby Manc as manager and the Sheik as owner - methinks domestic semis and finals are going to be as common for us as they have been for the likes of scum, chelsea etc - it is bloody great. And yeah I was only thinking last night about the long drive home from that 4-0 QF at palace

I remember arguing with my dad on the way back from Maine Road during those dark days about whether or not you should support City in any hope of us winning anything. His point was that you support them no matter how good they are and what division, which I agreed with entirely, but my point was that you went during thick and thin, in the vague hope that one day you'd see them win something, especially as I was born in 82 so hadn't even seen us reach a semi final.

Still have to pinch myself at times that it happened last season, and it's our third semi appearance in 3 years. I have a nephew who has lived through as many semi finals as me, I'm nearly 30 and he is 3!!

this month ten years ago e were in 18th place in a relegation battle with Bradford and Coventry. top 4 were:-

1 - Rags
2 - Arse
3 - Dippers
4 - Leeds

how times have changed indeed! we should never forget

edit - that's the end of season table soz :-(

We went down 10years ago yeah with brad and cov? i was only 7 but i recall saying to my dad, "dad at least we were the best city which went down" reffering to coventry and bradford city

Ive supported City since '78 and I never thought id see them do so well in the Premier League. Every match is looked forward to with a mixture of dread and anxiety to try and keep this run going! To see City be english champions would be a dream come true. I miss dark days too strangely enough It will take a long time before I get used to City winning things!

Just thought I'd remind some blues about some 10 years ago it would be a dream to be in the League Cup semi, not to mention anywhere near the top 4.

We are truly not here.

Bang on.

The post the other day about not taking the Europa league serious was so ridiculous.

Lets go and win everything we can, what has Baconface won? 37?

OK Bobby, 38 is the target.....

No, 50 is the target ;)

it`s funny you should put this thread up as it was just the other day that i was thinking about where we are now compared to over ten years ago and i had taggarts "not in my lifetime" beautiful little one liner in my head and how it must strike a chord with all of us at some level.

with the success on the pitch that we are enjoying at the minute it took me back to all those soul destroying results( like bury at home, york away, spurs at home 93,luton at home, arsenal 5-1 at home and 4-0 down after 20mins to name but a few) that left a horrible feeling in my stomach that we`ll never be like the top teams and that wish that one day we could doing an arsenal or dare i say doing what the glazerites did nearly every year and win a cup.

don`t get me wrong, all these defeats and let downs and relegations has probably made us fans different and unique from anybody else and gave us a backbone and the balls to take shit near enough every other season and we all know it was those twats from stretford who would be the first to rub our
noses in it!!

i guess what i`m trying to say is that we could have never imagined in ten lifetimes that we would in the position we are now and to say to myself "we`re top of the premier league by five points, not top of league one or the championship but the premiership and we`re in the champions league, not the auto windshield or zenith data cup but the european cup and yes we really are in the semi finals of the league cup,not the semi final of the division three play off...."

sometimes i have to pinch myself and think to myself
"we are not we`re not really here..." but we are and we love it,really love it..

There are those who don't even know about it.

There are those who will forget.

Then....

There are those of us who will never forget.

PROUD TO BE BLUE.

I still remember being at the play off semi final in 99 against Wigan at Maine Road, i was only about 11. Remember being stood on my seat singing the wembely song at the end of the game feeling proud as ever to be blue. The fact we are getting into semi's and finals like the ones we are now just makes me need to pinch myself. Its the dark days that make everything thats happening now feel so good for me.
