I couldn't stand Neville before he was on sky - and even now I look for the slightest chink with which to slag him off - but, I have to be honest, I think he's a first rate presenter and gives unbiased and insightful comments.

I think the fact that we had to get some players off the wage bill first might of had some bearing on transfers in the last window.

It wasn't an ideal transfer window, but what club/fans are ever happy. At least we are not in the position that everyone is dreading Joey Barton being snapped up or losing Sweep.

What Neville said was a gross generalisation which is bound to have exceptions. We are one of those exceptions. We're a fantastically run club who's strategy to blast us to the top of world football has required us to inflate the wage budget beyond all realism. Now we're addressing that weakness, which has it's own compromises too, like not being able to buy until you've trimmed the wage budget.

Short term - bad for club success.

Long term - great for club success.

Just ask anyone how 'badly run' our club is in 6 years, hahaha
