The G14 wanted more money from the European Cup & threatened to setup the ESL. UEFA oblige by replacing the European Cup with the Champions League.

The G14 STILL want more money & threaten another ESL. UEFA expand the CL to oblige, but the G14 attempt to setup the ESL in any case. The ESL is strangled at birth, but no one thinks about the additional matches, & the effect on the players.

Is it time the Champions League reverts to being about Champions only again?

Wouldn't this also create a stronger Europa League made up of the rest?

Correct, fail early in the Champion's League and get another go in another Euro cup, be more successful go out later in the competition and that's it, nothing, gone.
