After about three years my mate's book is finally out! I finally got my copy yesterday, but I have to declare an interest as I spent most of last summer editing/proofreading it. I have read most of the City fan-type books that have been published in the last few years which have ranged from the good to the p!sspoor in terms of content and production. But even allowing for my bias, this surpasses the others in both departments and I have no qualms in highly recommending it.

N.B. I understand that the latest City Magazine has written a short review of the book. This should be applauded as a truly exceptional feat, given that they haven't yet seen a copy!

I'll buy a copy of that. The review on Amazon mentions cricket, hope there's as little mention of that in the book as possible!!

Fair play well done for helping out and hope your mate's book goes well.

Love that our fans (generally! won't dwell on the odd one blasted over the bar) and historians write better stuff than the drivel from the swamp and its sympathists . . . they know who they are!

IIRC (flicked through the mag at my local newsagents) the review was a bit dismissive as well...slightly unfair if it's not even been read yet.

I'll be ordering a copy from Amazon and will make my own mind up. Might be a good idea for the author/publisher to correct the 'dissapointed' typo on Amazon blurb, though ;-)

I'm with you on that, but I can tell you that there's only one chapter out of 40 on cricket - helpfully entitled Cricket! - so you can avoid it!

-- Sun Aug 22, 2010 3:21 pm --

Think that's a publisher's typo!
