New CL Format Thoughts | After GW2 (pg13) | GW3 (pg33)

All of the games on the final game week are on the same day(Weds 29th Jan) and kick off at 20:00
I didn't know that. In fairness, that does make it a bit more dramatic. But the lead-up to that seems like going through the motions.

Going through the motions?

I thought we were nailed on to finish top 3 and here we are fighting to make the top 24.
Doesn’t really matter whether you finish 1st or 24th.

Might actually be better for City to finish 9th-24th since a lot of our players have missed a lot of football this season and the team has been out of form - an extra round of games will be good for getting those who’ve been out back to full fitness and might allow the team to play back into form.

ATM it’s not about form, It’s about injuries. More games means more injuries. It would definitely be costly for us to play an extra round of games.

I think it’s a dreadful format. It's a CL night and I'm not watching it, probably for the first time ever when I've not made other plans. No real jeopardy. TV can spin it all they like, but Real Madrid will make the top 24.

The old format was fine. The problem wasn't the format but seeding the draw so heavily so as to make it virtually rigged.
I like it, less repetative than the group stages and not the usual 12 clubs guarenteed to qualify with 4 suprise ones.

If it was the ild format we woyld probably already have qualufied but now there is an if bout whether we go through or out, a lot more interesting and hiwever it goes, then so be it
