New director of football appointed for Women’s Team

Hope this guy will make a difference, as we've seemed to me to stagnate a little on the women's side in recent times. I'm also pleased that Karen Bardsley will be joining him, as she comes across as an intelligent speaker and I know she took a strong interest in the project by @Gary James to chronicle the history of MCFC Women. She seems as good a candidate as there is for this type of internal promotion, and the club must see something in her to mentor her as they have.

Been disappointing to see City not quite live up to our potential after leading the way in terms of pushing the women's side of the club by, for example, being the first to allow the women's team to use the same training facilities and promoting them via a unified social media presence. Hopefully this sees us start to progress again.

Bardsley, Scott & Houghton are all brilliant, inspiring figures and I hope they all have a long future and connection with City. They are truly impressive people.

I'm optimistic about this appointment. From the article, it seems he is slotting between Gavin Makel, who's now responsible for business and operations, and the player facing positions like Taylor/Youth coaching/etc.A bit like a Txiki for the women's side.

I said weeks ago big things happening in the city women's team this summer, Talyor will be gone even if somehow we got 3rd spot, We are going back to basics and starting afresh with the City DNA, A new youthful side with players leaving and some stepping down from the game altogether,

Good it needs sorting and sadly we lost players that we shouldn’t. Taylor is not the answer.

Are you saying this due to what you would like to see and hope will happen or have you heard of something in the pipeline?

a bit of both

the whole of the city women's setup has been left to fight on its own a little, with the covid 19 outbreak and players leaving or stepping down from football the investment in the squad has been cut to the bare bones,

I will say that in the last 2 seasons, the players are not out and about in the Ancoats area relaxing joking and all kitted out in the city stuff like training outfits, there is a local cafe they all used to eat and drink in but all that has gone,

I will not name names but 100% big things are happening with the city women's team this summer,

Thanks for the reply, I hope it comes to fruition. It does feel like the have been left to drift whilst other teams have added motors and started to pull ahead. A refresh is definitely in order, we still have a number of very good players.

For anyone who's not seen he's done an interview with Rich Laverty. Bit of a mixed bag imo - on the one hand he's another one defending Taylor far more than makes sense, on the other sounds like they're actually trying to fix some of the behind scenes shit with the academy, and hiring new specialist injury/performance staff.

Some room for optimism if you're that way inclined.
