The whole Disney thing is probably why Ncuti gatwa left he was waiting too long and gave up waiting for Disney to make up there mind if they want to continue.
Probably now after that unit series they won’t carry on but HBO in the USA has the rights to the series from 2005 and that expires in August so if Disney was going to continue I would expect something round then as then they can get the back catalogue excluding the classic series .

HBO would hopefully demand better writing and less making episodes of Grimm - it's science fiction, not fantasy with magic.

The bbc can carry on regardless of Disney, tge main difference was Disney filmed it in 4k where bbc do it in 2k and 2k is enough for tv or iplayer.

In fact wje. they can no longer fuck up old enemies.with shit cgi ghouls and RTD is limited to people dressed as cybermen or daleksaybe his over extravagant bullshit will cease

Something strange happened there didn't it?

Ncuti said next series was being filmed from May on Graham Norton and it was edited out of existence along with an official "nothing is happening yet"

They appear to have jumped into (yet another) alternate universe, given the reshooting of the "got to be back for Poppy" stuff that did not appear in the originals.

In the credits, it has always said "and introducing XYZ as The Doctor"
This time, it said "and introducing Billie Piper". No mention of as the Doctor.

So what's going on?

Bad Wolf or The Moment facilitating the regeneration?

I can't see Piper being the next Doctor. Maybe she's the reset they used for Smith/Capaldi.

We'll get a Children in Need episode which introduces the next incarnation as and when it's confined it's carrying on.

If it is I think they want to leave it a few weeks out of respect for Ncuti. Get the hype up about the spin off. I'd personally like to see the New Doctor appear at the end of that as a surprise.

That goes into a level of nerdity that I can't follow!

I'm assuming that given, Davies' inability to not re-cast people, that the new face will be a surprise and be David Tennant. Or Catherine Tate. Or both.

Davies has shown that he can't prevent himself dripfeeding how clever and great he is, and will doubtless be talking nearer the time the miniseries is on. There isn't a sane way of preventing people knowing that Dr Who is being filmed - it needs to be started right now for a Christmas 2025 special, so I'd guess at Christmas 2026 as being more likely.

The spin off maybe the audition for Pete McTighe to take over from RTD.

He's an activist writer and has done lots of decent stuff away from DW. Years and Years probably my favourite.

New show runner, Doctor and direction maybe required.

This series has been fan wank for people like me. Plenty of squee moments, but they need to rebalance that with casual viewers.

RTD won't have got that far yet

Bi-generation was his gimmick so he could have tennant bounce off Ncuti then had no idea why so threw a genetic acicident that sterilised the time lords (again), even though we see kids on gallafrey (both shabogan and time lord) and the cure of Pythia was lifted in cannon.

piper will be a Ta Da moment with no end game yet known

personally think while some will love it it will also end intrest in it for others.


the Sutek/rani/omega fuckwottery and wasting classic villians has pushed me tbh, some good stories could have been one instead we get quick fix slop.

No kidding he needs to go.

I think what has been shown is that Davies needs someone to say 'no' to him, and there doesn't appear to be anyone who can do that on DW. The writing has too often lapsed into lazy one sentence unformed ideas followed by <insert lots of effects here to distract with shiny stuff>. Giant bone beasts, guv? Sure, but let's not actually make them attack anything, instead they can stand around like dinosaur-sized targets so they can animate a UNIT rotating turret.

Episodes have repeatedly run out of steam - look at the Tennant/Tate triple - too much for the time, too little for the time, too little topped up with his utter unwillingness to actually permanently put an end to characters (not least his besotted obsession with Rose Tyler). This has to be down to the writer (Davies) and the showrunner (also Davies).

Almost the single worst thing he came up with was the first episode of the series, where the Doctor was an irresponsible obnoxious stalker, 'babes'ing around everyone (imagine Matt Smith's Doctor calling Clara 'babes'!). He fused all the power in a hospital with no comeback or remorse!

And an awful gimmick it is too. See above for inability to end characters.

It' just seems to be another half-formed wheeze that is then overused and makes no sense. And if one more person writes or says 'timeywimey', they should have all their major organs fed to them slowly.
 
Just made the mistake of watching it on iPlayer.
What a pile of self righteous steaming shite.
