I’ve always wondered about that aspect of his interviewing style. I’m sure he does a lot of research on the subjects he’s about to cover and you’re spot on about faux naivety.

Yes, he does get genuine responses from those he talks to I think. The strength of the link to medical prescription pain-killers is made a lot of in this - wonder what the % of cases starting out that way in the US is

Yeah, it can irk a bit at times but I presume it's done to encourage his subjects to open up.
