8 year spell, can the present City team surpass what a previous era did ?


Citys’ "Golden era" (1968 - 1976) of challenging for honours and winning (on a fairly regular basis)

Can we win the League again ? how many FA or League Cups ? Can we win a European trophy ?

There seem to be quite a few similarities between the 68-76 era and this era.

For Mike Doyle read Vincent Kompany ?

For Tony Book or Glyn Pardoe read Pablo Zabaleta ?
For Colin Bell read a mix of David Silva and Yaya Toure ?

Does anyone know if there is any film\video anywhere (maybe even Pathe News clips in some cases) of the following City games:

1904 - FA Cup Final - City 1 Bolton 0
1937 - Apr 24th - City v Sheff Wed at Maine Road - City win 4-1 to win League (there is archive of the 1934 FA Cup win prior to this)
1968 - Mar 27th - Utd 1 City 3 - key victory to put City on title winning course
1937 - Charity Shield - City 2 Sunderland 0
1973 - League Cup - Rounds 2,3,4 (v Walsall, v Carlisle, v York) and Round 5 (first game 2-2 v Coventry)
1975 - League Cup Round 2 City v Norwich (3 games with 2 replays, last replay at Stamford Bridge of all places), and Round 3 City v Notts Forest , and Quarter Final City v Mansfield

Would be interesting to see these.

I know the Coventry game in 73 was not filmed. The replay was (4-2). Both games played midweek afternoons because of the power strikes
 
Interesting issue emerged in the Football Trivia thread about players with long careers with the club who never made a senior appearance but don't show up in our history stats. The most recent case in point was Chic Brodie, who started his league career with us and was number 2 to Bert Trautmann for four years. Another reserve keeper who goes unrecorded on here is Roy Dixon, father of Lee. We nevertheless acknowledge more recent players with 0 first team appearances like Glen Whelan, Emyr Hughes, Jérémy Hélan, Javan Vidal, Ben Mee, Chris Chantler and even Denis Suarez (who never actually signed for us) as ours. Interestingly neither Wayne Hennessey nor Keiren Westwood make it though, being a keeper is not very memorable it seems. Not sure where to go for information about earlier City reserve players who went on to have careers with other league clubs. Are reserve game teamsheets preserved for example or recorded in press reports - what think ye chaps?

I have A team and reserve team line ups from every game in the 80's and 90's I can send you. I have them on attachments via email.
 
You really REALLY have to see this. 1977 FA Cup at Leeds. Not the 1978 riot one, the year before. City fans in footage that hasn't been seen for decades.

A Leeds fan alerted me to this, fascinating, didn't recognise anyone but someone on here surely must do.
