New Model Army

Agreed back then with the sentiments - same thing was said on The The’s single Heartland too.
As for now, well I moved not for the politics but for a women! Still together! I love an American rather than America!

I watch the BBC news on TV and staggered as to how often the lead story is about something happening here and half the time it’s not even a main story here.
Just read a comment on YT,which suggested that the British government applied to block a NMA tour of the US on the back of 51st state...and succeeded. Apparently the band were not deemed sufficient "artistic merit"

I never knew this....

There were a number of bands around that time who faced similar action against them. I’ll have to look it up. I could be wrong (I could be right!) I think it was the time Al Gore was vice president and he was on a trip of banning bands that lyrics didn’t line up with his way of thinking…..

Edit
Yes I could be wrong. I was thinking about Gore’s wife Tipper who formed the parents group around getting records labels to issue stickers on albums warning of lyrical content contained on songs.

Wow. I had no clue about this!

saw them at castlefield bowl a couple of years ago supporting the levellers

absolutely blew them away and i love the levellers

brilliant band

Due to play Manchester Ritz in October I think.
Not seen them for years, but are a great band who I saw loads of times back in the 80's.
Have a look on YouTube for videos from when they did Night of a Thousand Voices at the round chapel in london - I wasn't there but looks a fantastic experience.

Saw them a couple of times in Leeds and Bradford on the late 1980s. Vengeance was a favourite album at the time. Also Psycho-Surgeons and Another Cuba. Don't follow them now.
