Opinion opinion opinions

Radiohead are shit in my opinion. Oasis still produce music better than most bands out there even if it isnt as good as their first two albums in my opinion.

All this radiohead are the saviours and do things on their terms is bollocks. Posh wierdos. In my opinion

This is what makes me laugh.

Because Oasis are working class (Ahem) and support City they are the dogs wotsits no matter what they do.

And Radiohead are wankers because they went to uni and got an education.

Bet you are a big fan of The Enemy aint ya - "We'll live and die in these towns"

(Rolls Eyes)

Not a fan of the enemy at all. Sorry if i like what i like and dont like what i dont like. If radiohead are making their music for themselves then keep it to themselves. Bollocks that they dont want to make money. Yeah they gave some songs away free, no one pays for music anymore anyway - were the tickets for their gigs free??

Would never have a go at someone for having an education. Just dont like there dreary music. You do. So what

so are you saying noel gallagher doesn't make music on his terms them?

I have no idea Tonea....he probably does but as soon as someone starts talking about "being big, or making it big or staying big" for many bands that involves compromises with record companies. I honestly think Oasis have chosen to do the music they want to do because its safe for them or maybe they haven't felt the need to experiment.

I know your a Rush fan. Another perfect example. I'm not really a fan but they may be the perfect example of a big (huge more like it) band that has made music on their own terms, been very sucessful (30 million records sold?) with very little promotional support from the record company and look at how they have evolved.

It just wears me out when people say Radiohead fucked themselves over for trying to be different and experiment rather than doing the same old shit. They first make music for themselves bottom line and if the fans don't like they don't give a shit, that's being artistic, that's having integrity.

i just dont think he sits in a room one day and thinks this tune will be a safe one that will go the next album
i assume it will be as simple as knocking a few chords around until a tune comes round he likes - thats the way i would do it
as for rush it will just be the same they will make music they like themselves thats it
maybe i'm being too simplistic i don't know
i dont get this experimentation making it cool and having integrity, if it dont sound good it dont sound good
thats all i care about

if it dont sound good it dont sound good
thats all i care about[/quote]

and here we have it. His last 4 albums aint sounded good so why anyone thinks this is going to be any better!

That's fine Tonea and like Johnmc said, its just opinions. Radiohead are very aware that when they delve into different kinds of soundscapes they will alienate some of their fanbase but if they get off on it, who cares right? I'm sure some of things they do that "don't sound good" to you, sound exhilerating to me. But then again some of the music I like would make Radiohead sound like The Monkees.

Having integrity is exactly what you said, doing music they want to do and not doing the music their fans want them to do. Thom Yorke would spit in the face of anyone who said to him, "Aw c'mon now! do another Bends!"

As for Rush I disagree completely. They make a concious effort never to repeat themselves they have said this repeatedly in interviews.

in your opinion
my opinion i have liked all 4 in varying degrees and enough to warrant me buying them
thats all that matters to me not that you say their shite or anyone else

Oasis are extremely limited in musical terms

Compare Liam's vocals and guitar to Thom's

Compare Noel's guitar playing to Jonny's

dont mean a thing that, you could have the most complicted clever riff and it still be shite
its all in the sound to the individual

can i just say that i love oasis and radiohead (both have done some of the best music i've ever heard). and great to see Rush getting some acknowledgement. if ever a band was about making music for the right reasons, and not being fakers its these guys.

I love Oasis and Radiohead but I would put Oasis' best stuff ahead of Radiohead, however, radiohead have been a hell of a lot more consistent in releasing good music, something which Oasis have (generally) failed at since 1996.

As it happens, I love experimental music, my favourite band, the cooper temple clause were one of the most experimental bands around. For that reason, I think Radiohead chose the right career path. Oasis are living on past glories, and it could be argued "why shouldn't they?", but with every album they release they tarnish their legacy. Radiohead have a new sound on every LP and, IMO, can only continue boosting their appeal.

check this out.....have you heard HEALTH from LA? I have seen these guys live 10 times probably, fucking incredible, not recommended for Oasis fans.

I can't seem to get into HEALTH. I've heard good things about them from my flatmate and from Drowned in Sound but they just don't seem to do it for me.

I also think Crystal Castles do Crimewave better. I'll give them a few more listens perhaps.

Its difficult music and I definitely have to be in the right mood to enjoy it. Some songs on that disc are fucking psychotic and really abstract but I tend to like a lot of noise rock. I can understand why a lot of people don't get into it. They are killer live though!

totally agree with you but within this framework they will make music that they will like themselves not to any fad that might be out there

great new album by the way too

tbh I thought the same as what you've just said, but about Crystal Castles, and there are still a couple of songs I can't stand. The one's which are really aggressive electro just aren't for me (can't remember songs names now). Numbers 2 and 5 off the album though lol.

radiohead are gash. oasis new stuff may have a lot of repition about it but there early stuff defined a generation, radiohead will never produce anything in the same league as definitely maybe.
