Changed the name in April 1902 according to Gary James in his excellent book Manchester A Football History

I believe they moved from newton heath to trafford 4 years after it had become part of Manchester.
So in all their existance they have only been in Manchester for 4 years.
 
I love all the posters, but i think the 'Welcome to Manchester' logo has more than one meaning. Welcome to Tevez, welcome to Manchester from trafford, OR, anybody coming into the city, sees that poster as a welcome to our city from City. Sorry for being boring, but these things never get pointed out in the left sided press.

Check out 'the making of that poster' it gives real insight as to its sublimal messaging which hopefully the new posters will emulate
