Met Police today have warned people, mainly elderly, of this new and clever scam-might be here now but wouldn't surprise me if hits Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool etc.
Courier Scam Awareness Day
Operation Sterling from the Metropolitan Police Service’s Specialist and Economic Crime Directorate are reissuing their warning regarding ‘Courier Scams’.
This type of fraud is mainly used to target the elderly and vulnerable in our communities and is becoming increasingly prevalent across London and beyond.
Operation Sterling is undertaking a number of events on Wednesday the 20th March 2013. In addition Operation Sterling, local police and banks will be distributing the attached awareness poster.
Please see attached link in the related publications section of this webpage.
But the key messages are;
Your bank will never attend your home
Your bank and the police will never collect your bank card
Your bank and the police will never ask for your PIN
