New security measure

There was a short video clip on BBC of the policing of the Feyenoord fans yesterday. 425 officers on duty and cost the club £80,000. The GMP spokesman said that both Manchester clubs pay the full cost of policing which for both was in the region of £940,000 last season.

By comparison Arsenal paid £33,000. Do they not have police at their ground or if they do, get it mostly free?
I assume that is only in and around the stadium ? Surely we are not paying to escort tourists to our City round various venues (ie from the City centre to the stadium) ?

We were out after the game until 2am, and we didn't see any issues, just lots of the dutch fans having a good night out, like we do abroad, a couple looked worst for wear, much like we do. Some of their songs were shit, but hey ho, they seemed pretty respectful around town afterwards, as it should be.

As previously mentioned, there were quite a few Dutch fans also around me in 93:20. I’d been to the shop before the game so had a bag with me and that wasn’t looked at or checked by the Security guys with wands.

Don’t think the stewards wanted to get involved in removing the Dutch fans or that certainly appeared to be the case

I think the fact the screens in the 93:20 bar had 'Wilkommen" displayed on them meant the club knew that there were Dutch fans in there !

The chief inspector or whoever he was implied that we pay extra when the need arises as do the rags. £940k for maybe 25 games seems high for just a few police at most games.

Only 3 arrests yesterday which I guess for Feyenoord is pretty good.

Feyenoord fan says the Police showed them respect, so they returned it. It's obvious our Police treated them properly unlike the Roma Police.

Other news. Liverpool fans had loads of problems with the Seville Stewards and the Seville Police. Apparently when trying to get in the ground. I'm not saying anything. Strange that. Because when we went to Seville, we got a Police escort and got into and out if the ground without a problems. Hmmm.

I thought the Robocop style police in Seville were extremely threatening and aggressive. This seems to be a theme in Spain with Bayern Munich fans having had major problems in Madrid which the club to their credit are trying to take further with UEFA or EU. Doubt Liverpool fans did anything we didn't when we were there.
