New supporters/interest in City.

haha that license plate is quality....

Blue or not if I saw you in the street I'd GTA your car ;)

I've had a few comments from people who may slightly know my name/face but wouldn't know I was a blue, presuming I'd just turned up and started watching City Since I've started this Supporters Club, but people around here wouldn't know who I support unless they actually went in my car with me on a saturday.... I don't sit in my local boozer every game unlike some who then proceed to call themselves big blues.

I normally do not post here I just read but feel I can have my say in this thread. I have been a Blue since I started watching English football in the mid-90's. I was drawn to City because I can't stand front runners which what all American born united fans are. They are arrogant and act entitled and are just plain the most annoying beings on this planet. Anyway I use to take all kinds of abuse and strange looks since 90% of premiere league fans here either support Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, or Arsenal. Now that we are of that class I get called a title chaser like I just started supporting City this year. I remember 5 years ago I met another City fan and we would be at the pub just the two of us relishing in our misery and happy with middle of the table never dreaming of all we have now. He is a life long City boy originally from Sulford and living in San Francisco now. I learned so much of the clubs brilliant history from him and could never imagine supporting anyone else. So we are not all newcomers over here some of us have suffered right along with you, although not as long. Now American Utd fans won't even look my way at the pub when they see the shirt and I love it. For those of you unfamiliar with US football pubs all the supporters watch at the same places. The pub we go to at 5:30 in the morning for early matches is owned by a blue but is the official pub of the Northern California Arsenal supporters. When we play them its 100 of them and about 10 of us and we usually out sing them. Any blue coming for the match here in San Francisco please come up to Maggie McGarry's pub in North Beach we the San Francisco City Blues would love to meet you all and lift a few pints. Now I will go back to lurking and learning from you all.

nice words.

Supporting City in a different country has always been special. When you see another blue you make your way to go say hello and have a chat about the team, unlike other mobs. Every city fan Oyou tend to meet OS aswell tends to be real hardcore supporters and great value. I like hearing other stories like these, good work SF City Blue

Honestly i'd consider myself a 'new' supporter, before 4 years ago I had no interest in football at all (it's all about who you hang out with) all I knew was that everyone where I am supports Man Utd, yet never go to any matches. So all I was really exposed to were 'armchair' fans who tried to religiously drill into my brain that utd where sent by god. I of course resisted this idea, and it honestly grew me to dislike football. Then by chance I befriended a City supporter and he introduced me to the club and at one point got me to go to a match. Over time I slowly started to enjoy football, to the extent now that I actually go out regularly and attend matches when I can afford it.

So yeah, i'm a 'new' supporter, I never saw City play in the low leagues but I wish I had done as i've grown to love this club over the years. I guess now I get to be looked down on and told to fuck off. yay.

Same here brother.

"New" American fan here. Never was into soccer much mainly because I was a football player (In schools its a fall sport) so those conflicted. All my friends play, but they are all Arsenal supporters and one rag. Go figure. Well my City story is strange. In a video game shop I saw a returned copy of a FIFA game was like $5, so I picked it up. This was in 2006 I think. In manager mode, you couldn't play as five star teams, so I chose out of the four star ones. City had the best uniforms. In 2007 I started watching them religiously and I still have never talked to or even met another City fan in person.

In Kelowna BC Canada here. I have only seen 1 other City supporter on here and I met one in a grocery store here a week before the FA Cup. I prefer it this way as I dont want to see an influx of new fans after all this past season.

Everyone here jumps on the United or Chelsea bandwagon and makes me wanna be sick. They can all stay there.

Hoping that the friendly in Vancouver doesnt bring out a bunch of new fans round here.

It was always inevitable that increased media coverage, success on the pitch and club PR work would lead to new interest and ultimately new fans.

My wife was on a business trip in Washington DC and found me a MCFC tea mug in some random little store there. It's anecdotal but it shows you we're more and more international. It also cost her 10 quid, which shows you how far we've come, I remember during the Pearce years picking up City's current shirt for a fiver in a sports store.

Winning the FA Cup is one thing, but to get to the latter stages of the CL would massively increase the profile of our club.

It's not like new support is at the expense of old/local support. The club aren't selling half the seating allocations to coach loads of Korean tourists or whatever.

Ive lived in Stoke on Trent since age 7. First people bitched at me because Man City were in the shadow of United. Now I get bitched at because Man CIty are rich. Cant win.
