New UEFA coefficient rules are BS

As far as I can tell all these rules are designed to do is to ensure that the old guard (the Real Madrids, Barcelonas, Bayern Munichs, Manchester Uniteds and AC Milans) are ensured knockout qualification.

What kind of f****d up ranking system produces a group which has the actual Champions of 3 of the 4 best football leagues in the world?! It could only have been worse if we'd had the Italian champions as well.

How is a team supposed to improve their coefficient and elevate themselves given such logistics? It looks like we're now all but out of this year's CL at the first hurdle again, no doubt we can look forward to next year's CL draw (Barca, Juventus and Schalke I'm guessing) whilst the rags can easily maintain their coefficient against teams I have honestly never even heard of (Cluj?! wtf?!).

- UEFA's fault
- Platini's fault
- Marwoods fault

More like Mancini's fault!

We could be stuck in a group with Cluj, Nordsjaelland and Lille and still struggle. Our players and, maybe more importantly, the manager are simply not good enough on the big European stage. How many truly decent performances have we had in Europe this past three seasons? 3 or 4?

Will our faliure to get out of the group. Stages again effect the premier league's four places for next season could we only get three spots....

The performances could certainly have been better, but what do you expect when we're getting consistently lumped in the same group as the very best of the best Europe has to offer?! Are people honestly drawing no distinction between Cluj and Real Madrid? The rags would not get out of the group we're in right now, nor the group we had last year, same goes for Chelsea and Arsenal too.

Give a team a fighting chance, that's all I'm asking for. As existing Champions of England we shouldn't be facing teams like this until the knockout phase. Maybe one of those teams should be in the group, but not 3!

Any ranking system that is producing such grotesquely imbalanced groups is clearly wrong.

The German champions 2 seasons running are only in pot 4. There is definitely something wrong with this system.

Where as Villarreal were in pot 2 least year and got relegated from La Liga.

But then I don't think Real Madrid would have been too happy when the group was announced...

Agree, but its their way of giving us a bloody nose....

It would help if we could rediscover the ability to defend.

Tactics were all wrong from the start. Clichy was 2 on 1 more times than I could remember. Couldn't pick out who our best player was. We were also wasteful again tonight. Would have been a different story if we'd been more clinical.

Yes, our group is a difficult group but all the English teams have had to deal with this and so will we.
