At the beginning of the year I done a week in NY and week in LA. Got all four flights for £500 through United Airlines.

I'd recommend the Wellington Hotel as well. Just up from times square, nice hotel and reasonably priced too

is 4 weeks too long for New York?
Fuck yes.

How long would be enough time to see everything?
I'm probably not the best person to ask because I did it in a whirlwind three days but I'd say ten days tops. If you're going to spend four weeks in the US, go and see some other cities; Boston; Washington; Philly etc.

-- Sun Oct 20, 2013 7:31 pm --

4 days max
Nah, more than that. I did it in three and it wasn't close to enough to see everything properly.

It depends what you mean by "see". You do get some people running from one attraction to the next, exhibiting nothing more than a tick-box mentality.

Personally I would do 10 days. At least for your first trip.

4?

Bloody hell, I spent two days just wandering the streets. Half a day going up the Empire State. 4 would mean you would miss out on loads of stuff like the park, the museums, the shops, a show or 2, a baseball game, Brooklyn, spook central...the list goes on.

I've just got back from new york, spent a week there, the flight was with Delta and cost £424 from Heathrow. The Hotel we stayed in was the New World Hotel in Chinatown, it was a dump but very cheap we spent £373 for a weeks stay.

Beers aren't cheap over there but the bars are plentiful (you've got to try the mad hatter - Citys' bar) and you will not be bored.

Is that £424 for both or each mate?

under a grand for a week in New York is excellent value for money where did you find that deal mate?

That would be £424 each!
If you are planning on a month, stay in NY for one week and then travel around - New England this time of year is beautiful - and cheaper than NY City!

It was £424 for me, the boy was already over there, I think he spent more than me for his flight but I thought about £400 was a good amount. A mate of mine who went over for the Chelsea game at the end of last season paid £370 for his flight but he flew to Amsterdam first before flying to NY.

We did 6 nights in June, more than enough to see everything, you will need to plan in advance. We got the 5 day NY Pass and saved a fortune on sightseeing

Everything cost a fortune, everyone wants tipping, but other than it was brilliant
And would recommend it to anyone

It cost us about £780 each plus spending money
We stayed at One UN and it was fine

And I hope you like walking....
