Newcastle - A City of bygone years

it was amusing when the away support started chanting empty seats at the home fans lol

They're basically the same as us under Stu Pearce, skint, aging, crocked squad, relying on using kids (regardless of whether they were ready or not) to plug gaps in the team. No gile or attacking thread, needing to grind out the odd win to keep them in the division.

Thought Enrique was their best player, Duff was a handful (great player on his day) and Barton played his usual committed self. Apart from that they seriously lack quality and unless they can get some players out of the treatment room they are in big trouble.

Once we scored and Owen went off they were happy just to dig in and keep the score down.

In the second half their last line of defence was to foul our players and just hope the referee wouldnt give a penalty, which he complied with happily.

They created 3 good chances though and could have had a penalty, but they cant really have any complaints about the result.

If they could get all their players out they would be a decent team, but with Owen, Martins, Viduka, Ameobi and Barton all out for a while they are going to struggle in their next few matches.

perhaps they should swap Given for Benjani and Vass before Monday;-))))

A cert for the drop IMO.

For the first 30 minutes I hardly recall them touching the ball, when they did it was smashed 60 foot into the air.

The only reason that Carrol plays is for the long ball.

They didn't seem to have any ideas last night. Duff was an occasional threat but that was it. That Coloccini was fucking gash.

How poor were the referee and linesman last night? That Carrol was offside every single time he won a header and as for the penalty shouts. We could and should of had 3 last night.
