Newcastle fans today

They're here, they're there "empty seats" should have perhaps got an airing.

But 2,000 plus is still a good turnout for a club at the bottom of the table. And was it £44 a ticket? Something like that, Not sure we'd have taken more away in the circumstances.

I like both the NE clubs. League is better with them, but they are both in a big hole now. I think Sunderland are going down, but NUFC might be OK because I thought they did OK and didn't do a lot wrong as a team. Defended really well 1st half, and counter-attacked well. 2nd half we got a lucky 2nd, but that lifted us and for 20 minutes no team would have stopped us. Great football. Shearer ripped into his team, but I think he should have given us more credit for that passage of play.

There were also loads of Newcastle fans on the bus back, and it all could have kicked off but it didn't. Bus got stuck in gridlock traffic that wasn't going anywhere. It was about 3/4 an hour to get back to Mcr City Centre.

Did you ever go to St James Park in the 70s & 80s ,or to the final in 1976 ,they were the biggest set of tw*ts going in them days
I remember going to maine Road when they had Keegan in their team with Waddle and Beardsley. Geordies were everywhere and it kicked off everywhere inside and outside but that's what happens when you have a big travelling support. It was part of following football in that era.

That song did get an airing 5 minutes in bunch of halfwit cretins that they are. Apart from corporate tickets on the second tier the real empties were amongst the five fingered mob in the third tier, not the brightest are the five bellied lot.

I think City have a kinship with Sunderland and West Ham in that we have been shit in the past, endured it, accepted it but still turned up and hoped there would be better times ahead. I don't sense that with most of Newcastle's support. Just an entitled, arrogant sense of injustice that they shouldn't be as poor as they are compared to other premier league clubs. Newcastle are shit and have been for some time, they'd be better off developing a sense of humour.

Absolutely, I remember after the league cup final going for a drink in Ealing and the Sunderland fans were terrific. They seem to have less head the balls amongst their support and seem to be considerably less deluded and far more grounded and likeable than the Geordies and don't sing the 'WWYWYWS' with the same gusto. The other club who give the empty seat songs a huge airing are Villa which is beyond laughable when you consider that Villa Park has the lowest percentage of seats sold to capacity on the premiership.

They sang that at us? Cheek. I never heard it. Was waiting for us to sing it at them.

Hard to dislike them though when they get battered 6-1 and are seeing their team get beat every week.

I thought they looked OK first half, but not as good as Shearer said. City just stepped it up 2nd half, and we'd have destroyed any team in that period.

Yes pretty early on, personally I can't stand their deluded fans, normally I would sympathise with any club having Ashley at the helm but that bunch of gobby neanderthal's you have got to be kidding.

Spotted one Newcastle fan in particular.(a block away from me) The type of (away) fan who spends most of the the match goading home fans, and constantly taking the piss when their team is winning. Not to mention giving it the big one. And just for good measure, he was wearing a Stone Island jacket as well. :-?

Anyway, left him to it. Oh how he loved dishing it out to City fans near him. Once it got to 3-1, then 4-1, I decided to go for a walk and went to the isle opposite his isle. Let's just say I had a bit of fun. :-) So did those City fans around me. Within minutes he was concentrating on the match, with little or no thought of taking the piss out of City fans again.

As for Newcastle fans in general. Great support, decent numbers, but they really do like taking the piss out of opposing fans, if and when they ever get that short window of opportunity, which isn't often. You'd have thought they would have learnt their lesson by now, especially at the Etihad.

What's 110/111 like this season now that the South Stand has gone up? Have some of the singers gone, or is it better because that whole end is louder?

Used to stand there as well. Really enjoyed it. Especially for the big matches. Seems a bit quieter now. Guessing. Think quite a few from there have relocated to the new the new South Stand singing section. Which hasn't really worked, even though the atmosphere in general is better than last season. Good to see the Poznan back, even though it was a bit all over the place. :-)
