Newcastle fans

Bruno must have said something about their fans. I mean their Bruno, not the rag Murcury lookalike.

Talk crap running something about what he’s said about his clubs fans after losing to us.

Slagging off a club’s support because of crowds in the 80s is a bit unfair.

Everybody’s crowds were poor in the 80s. Can’t be arsed looking up averages but 15,000- 18,000 were normal Maine Road attendances in the mid/ late 80s and anything over 20,000 was reserved for a big game.
Clearly not true..

You can't spout something then say i can't be bothered looking up the facts - your statement is a good 25% incorrect at best - that's a fair margin

Embarrassing thread. Unnecessarily slating another good club's loyal support.

Imagine having a go at the Geordies when the dippers and the rags exist.

Christ.
Not really, its more a pop at the meeja really...Newcastle get all this amazing away support bollocks from the meeja...not a peep at our amazing loyal support - Athens for a friendly - after season started! is one example - any other club they'd be fawning. We know why they do it but it's annoying to be told our fans don't turn up - when clearly , even in troubled times we do..just a bit insulting really - Not having a pop at Geordies at all, I just hope fands who really know football understand that its sycophantic journo's who wind up fans ....Newcastle United Fans are no more or less loyal then say a Stoke City fan who goes week in week out..likewise were not either... they way the n=meedia go on about us though it's like we had 20 fans b4 the take over and fickle fans now

Our two lowest attendances were both against Wrexham during the same season. Both games were played in torrential rain and the first one was abandoned. https://www.footballsite.co.uk/Statistics/Seasons/1978-79/ClubResults/1978-79.NewcastleUnited.html#:~:text=* The Newcastle v Wrexham Second,League crowd at the ground.

This is our ground at the time, both covered ends held about 6,000 between them because both paddocks were open to the elemants.
I think all clubs had some shockers - I remember mid week league cup admittedly v Chester - we only had about 11,000 in wet through... City though should rightly have had big gates pre take over - aside from a dip post Book..we had 9 major trophies in our bin and i think 8 runners up..not bad really when you look at other clubs trophy cabinets - it was competing with the best of 'em. I think we were level or close to Liverpool's b4 their gambling money catapulted them late 60's
