Newcastle (H) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Mixed bag of performances out there today. Thankfully we took our chances, 3 shots on target and two goals. Grealish and Ake on the left are a fantastic combination, Foden and walker on the right worked well today too. Foden another MOTM performance, not just his goal but work ethic, some fantastic touches and ball control and caused them problems all game.
Some of our passing was dreadful in midfield, very sloppy and at times Gundogan, Rodri and Akanji were caught out dawdling and we lost possession.
What is going on with Ederson's kicking? The scene for that was set right from kick off, pass back to Dias who fumbled it, passed back to Eddie who kicked it out of touch.
We rode our luck a little defensively at times but we got the three points and kept a clean sheet. A few feisty tackles were going in and it was good to see us respond as a team and not leave some one on their own like with Lewis that time.

Forgot to say both goals were great strikes, the sceond came at the right time for us too.

Good to see a ref allowing physical challenges about time , thought Newcastle were threatening going forward , great three points.

A really good win with some great performances: Foden, Grealish, Ake, DIas and Rodri were all excellent. We started nervously, with Ederson guilty of misplaced passes and the defence looking edgy on the ball too. We always looked threatening though, especially from Phil, and Grealish's complete control of the ball and his body was exceptional.

They had superb chances, don't be afraid to admit it you'll be ok. We took ours, all that matters.
The fact that they didn't score won't be claimed in the RDAHMeedya that it was down to magnificent defending, but that's the way we Bovril drinking FOCs in CBL3 saw it!. Some of our defending was a bit last second and/or do-an'-die but they didn't score. Top marks to that back line. Akanji had my heart in my mouth a couple of times but stout defending all round.

Serious question to those on here who have a similar encyclopaedic knowledge of the LotG: Silkay Ilkay was just about to thump the ball into the top left hand corner just like Garrincha and Elano but he got legged. So much of a legging that Hooper saw fit to give us the free. I think he was choking but there was no way of playing on! That is as clear a denial of a goal scoring opportunity if ever I saw one, more so than someone who gets dragged dowh a yard inside his own half and has to scuttle for another fifty yards for the opportunity to realistically appear. Why was the Magpie not sent off for denying Gundog that opportunity.

And Super Drooper Hooper was as shite as any of the others who've besmirched the Etihad turf defecating via his whistle for ninety minutes.

Akanji all over the shop, bailed out by Dias and Ake.

Foden and Grealish great.

De Bruyne and Gundo not.

Rodders looks knackered and Eddie distribution was shit.

Good first half from us, terrible 15 minutes in the second, in control for the remainder.
All the defenders had bad moments at some point, but usurped by Kev’s 65 minute shocker. He looked frustrated with himself as he was that bad.

Grealish, Rodders and Phil were all spot on, and I thought Erling fought really hard too.

Good result, not the best game but three points.

Grealish, Aké and Foden very good. Haaland needs to get back to his best, though I did enjoy his piss-taking with the succession of corners to wind them up in injury time.
It seems Haaland's season ended last November. Since the restart he has been average.

God description of the game but also fair to say Silva dug us out of a deepening hole.
