Newcastle (H) Post Match Thread

Zinchenko was outstanding.

Technically superb, I felt he offered just as much as Delph does.

If anything, he makes that Silva Sane combo work even better.
He certainly did yesterday. Plus he seemed to tune into their wavelength without even a hint of a problem.

I watched zincenko very close v Bristol being sat 4 rows from the front East Stand (normally hate being that low down) and was impressed by his composure on the ball. He has such confidence even in tight situations and never looked flustered. Awareness of who is around him too was impressive. Sterling could do with learning this a bit more to become even better. For a young lad these are great attributes added to his technical ability. Personally I think he's going to be a star but further forward up the pitch. Even doing post match interviews......says it all about his self-belief.

'Where Were You When You Were Shit?

Obviously, this rankles with the home crowd because that support is proud of the way some of it’s support stuck by Man City in less financially doped days at Maine Road, when they were a proper club. I laughed when they sung it back to the away end, blissfully ignorant it seems of the Championship team we are following in the Premier League.

If there is one thing our support utterly owns and it’s the moral high ground.'

Going forward he offers more than Delph.

Defensively, he doesn't have Delph's speed, his not as physical, his 1v1 defending is poor, and his positioning has a long way to go. 1v1 and Positioning can be fixed pretty quickly if he gets a chance to play this role more often. We've already seen from Sterling's social media that Zinchenko is doing extra 1v1 defending sessions.

Physicality will come as he gets older, and the pace...mostly can be fixed with positioning.

The only problem this lad will have is how much wants to be a left back and not a #10.

I haven't seen any replays but I'm not sure why he is getting some blame for the goal? In real time at the match it looked like Otamendi came too far forward, missed a tackle and got caught too high up the pitch.

The through ball to the forward was very good as well.

What a crock of shit. 1988 - 1992, average attendances approx. 20k in a one team city!
