Totally agree. Those boys and our manager need us on Sunday.

Reminds me of when we played Newcastle at home in 2004 when threatened with relegation. It was the penultimate home match and Wanchope scored the winner. The crowd really got behind the lads and got us over the line. Same again on Sunday please.
Cracking atmosphere at that match.

Cracking game right at the end of my first year as a seasoncard holder. Nearly got trampled by a police horse before the match because I was 9-years-old and not looking where I was going - thankfully my uncle (no longer with us) grabbed me by the arm just before I walked into its path, haha.

Can still remember Wanchope scoring his header, oddly enough, long ago as it was. Seem to remember it being the first goal he'd scored at the new stadium as well and then he immediately got another two when we battered Everton on the last day of the season when we were already safe.

You forget how good that Newcastle team was - playing in the Champions League, Bobby Robson in charge, Shearer up front. Was a big achievement at a vital time. 2004 and 2007 are the closest we came to relegation during the John Wardle years (god bless that man) and big 1-0 wins over Newcastle kept us up both times.

Great videos of both games. Our support was great back in those days. I'll get slammed for saying it, but the North Stand lower was far better when it wasn't a family stand. That scene behind the goal when Wanchope heads home is fantastic.

That's where I was sat that game with my brother, was mental.

% chances of a win in remaining fixtures including Newcastle

CITY
Newcastle 84%
Wolves 77%
West Ham 65%
Villa 70%

Liverpool
Spurs 67%
Villa 61%
Southampton 75%
Wolves 79%

So we have the advantage next two games and they have it for the last two.

Contrary to what most people think the highest chance of dropped points of all the games is Villa away for Liverpool (unless Gerrard helps them!)
Are they based on the win percentage on 90 mins on Wednesday ?? Or just as meaningless?

Liverpool and the vast majority of the British media will be desperate for our CL exit to destabilise us and for it to negatively impact on our league form.

We need to go out there on Sunday and show that we're not going to let it affect us and we're fully focused on winning our last four games. A real statement victory would do that although I would of course snap your hand off for a scrappy 1-0 win.

As always with us it's about scoring first and ideally scoring early. The players will have a lot of pent-up frustration from Wednesday so I'm expecting us to make a fast start, we just have to be clinical with any chances we get.
I think if we concede first its going to be a long day
