Newcastle Night Out...Suggestions?

I'm off to Newcastle tomorrow with the missus to celebrate my 34th (FUCK ALL!!) birthday and watch Delphic while I'm there.

I only know Newcastle from match days so haven't ever managed to have a good wander about. I intend to get hammered and would like some suggestions as to the best places to take in from Bluemooners with some knowledge of the place.

All ideas welcome. Ta.

Is the Bigg Market still worth a visit? I presumed it was a bit like Brannigans on a larger scale.
