Newcastle Thread - 2023/24

Is it just me or are Newcastle the new media darlings? What's with all the love for Newcastle? Don't they have "oil sugar daddies" also? Where's the oil washing allegations? Where's all the human rights talk? This morning alone, the dailymail has like four articles all saying great things about Newcastle and how they're so close to becoming European royalty and how they've been smart in the transfer market! Really? What the fuck am I missing?

Once they start winning trophies that will all change.

But we never had that. The media has waged a relentless war against us right from the start, well before the take over. I can't remember where I saw it but a newspaper frontpage published 50 or 60 years ago and in that article City were accused of ruining football. If anyone still has that please put it up here.

I'm sure that many Newcastle fans must feel that had that ridiculous penalty not been awarded to PSG in the last minute of the game in Paris the whole approach to the game with AC last night would have been different and Newcastle could still have been in the draw.

Well they learning first hand that if you want to be successful, you're gonna have to win against teams and officials when you come up against certain teams that they want still in the competitions.

If you recall, when we were first in the ECL, it was a right ball ache. Awful draws and it seemed we never got a ref's decision in our favour. Strangely, having a good coefficient makes a huge difference.

Another example of the football 'closed shop.' It's just that these days we're in the guild, so to speak. Newcastle have just started serving their apprenticeship.

true but of course we had the world's greatest club in our backyard and one who must be protected from any threat whatsoever. Because the rags had bullied so many into submission, had the refs and media in their pocket so became a gravy train for many hangers on .......and then the nasty City club came along.
Newcastle don't have that

and if they do qualify for champions league next season they'll likely be in pot 4 again which again make it a more difficult challenge to qualify for knock out rounds.
