Newcastle Thread - 2023/24

I don’t think we struggled to attract players, though we did have to pay higher salaries than their ability warranted.

But hiring Bobby Manc and that great summer 2010 transfer window - Merlin, Yaya, Aleks and Boateng - was a game changer for us.
Boateng, thank fuck the other three didn't have isle seats on that flight ;-)
But I get the point mate :-)

Bayern for £12m seems to be what may happen.

It’s a bit of a risk as his set pieces gains them just about more points than he’s lost them this season.

Probably an attempt to pass PSR without having to sell Guimaraes and Isak.
They need to raise cash if they have any chance of brinning players in NUFC fan on 606 said if Tripper goes then others will see it as a lack of ambition and will be asking to go as well.
Won the lottery but the money is locked away and they cant send it Their only option is to issue revenue by success on the pitch and stadium development but its difficult as its locked in all around, I've heard that they plan to ask the fans what they want to do, this might be mandatory anyhow to consult, with one of the options to move to a new 80K stadium but that's not going to happen soon Short term they are hamstrung with new new rules on sponsorship value

This PSR is really making things tough, having to sell a player for £12m in the money laden environment of the PL is making a mockery of the Clubs aspirations.

I know UEFA now have the same rules but the red shirt influenced Premier League are doing a good job of dismantling their own product by handing out points deductions and the threats of further sanctions.

The Golden Goose is dying a slow death.

It’s a dilemma for them. They’d be better spending on an academy and selling player like we have, but that will take a decade and more.

It’ll be interesting to see how many clubs start to oppose PSR in the coming years.
