It was 2 years ago that we were taken over and I could never have thought that our improvements could happen so quickly. If somebody had said 2 years ago that we would be celebrating our 2nd takeover anniversary topping the Group of Death in the Champions League and within a win of the top 6 in the Premier League, I would have recommended a visit to seek medical help. Yet here we are and today we’ve announced a contract extension for one of our two Brazil internationals.
I haven’t posted much since we beat PSG because that game was exhausting, both physically and mentally as I might have slept for an hour maximum on Wednesday night as I couldn’t get my head around what was happening to the club. It’s actually scary to think where we will be on our 3rd, 4th and 5th anniversary etc.
We’re nowhere near you in progression but that doesn’t matter because 2 years ago we were below Burnley and Norwich to name just two clubs who were in a better position than us.
It looks like the ground is going to be expanded on two sides which will likely take our capacity to at least 65,000 from 52,000 and even that might not be enough as we have between 50,000 and 80,000 members on top of our 52,000 capacity which admittedly does usually have a few away fans in it. The club said that they could have sold out St James’ 2 or 3 times over on Wednesday.
This might sound daft, I'm waiting for the bubble to burst and for us to start falling apart but it doesn't look like that is going to happen as we rarely, if ever, put a foot wrong these days. We've gone from getting nothing right to getting nothing wrong.
Crazy mind-bending stuff which I’m struggling to comprehend.
