Newcastle Thread - 2023/24

Around 700 of the 6,000 strong contingent of travelling supporters have paid £600 a head to purchase special hospitality tickets in the Black Cats suite which comes equipped with a bar. In an attempt to welcome them – or possibly reduce the prospect of any vandalism – the normally red and white themed suite was specially redecorated with black and white banners and signage emblazoned with slogans including “We are United”. Bizarrely, “Cheer up Peter Reid” a reference to the Newcastle fans once favourite ditty about the former Sunderland manager, also featured.

Has another Newcastle fan been trying to punch a horse or is that an old picture being used by the Telegraph?

I wonder if the telegraph will be forced to apologise to the geordies for insinuating that they are all horse punchers in the same way that ITV had to apologise to the scousers for suggesting that they are all ticketless queue jumping scumbags even tho there is much more evidence to suggest that they are that than their is to suggest all geordies are horse punchers

Been done to death but football is the only industry that forbids inward investment it’s akin to a corner shop owner being prevented from investing by the big 5 supermarkets
NUFC can only grow slowly by revenue increasing, but they have even put measures in place to stall that, they need to concentrate on success on the pitch which increases prize money and development of the academy to fund transfers. One option they are looking at is development of SJP or a re stadium to progress match day revenue but even that will be some years down the line
Problem is, when I think back to Chelski's early Prem dominance due to Abramovitch funds that I didn't think City would ever see the likes of, I thought it was unfair. Chelsea could buy the best, pay the most = League Wins. We were languishing behind like many teams and unless we got our sugar daddy we couldn't ever compete. Luckily.....for us..(maybe) we got one ourselves, so we win. Not every team can get a sugar daddy like ours of course. For the majority - without FFP they will never win - that's not good for the game. I hated looking up without a hope so It's churlish for me now to agree and say scrap FFP

Yep and gets assessed like we do on sponsor to what is fair value while the scum get car companies pay over the odds sponsors and a few others too! All bent to fuck

It's only fair mate.

Rags and scousers need to be top of the table at all times, to make things fair :)

Oh I do hope they go down, no doubt they will be up for their cup final against us tomorrow.
They have some neck moaning about the FFP rules, they voted for them, they knew about them when they got took over, they knew about them when they started blasting the cash around and it seems they know about them now that they are crying its not fair and they might have to sell a few players to break even

Reading the report on their huge losses this came across as a bit strange. Using the club as their own cash cow ?

It was also revealed the club had loaned co-owner Amanda Staveley £600,000 in November 2022 "in respect of certain legal fees", which was interest free and had not been repaid as of 30 June 2023.

A further loan of £659,056 was made on 31 August 2023.

Pointless the Saudis owning the club or any billionaire buying any mid table team if they want to try and win some trophies you'll need a miracle if you can only have100m in loses over 3 years!

Every club that gets taken over by a awealthy owner clears their debts and makes them a potential challenger I am all for, however these **** keep having a dig at us and lumping us in wiith the 3 (4 if you count spurs) cunts who have actively clung onto power, for them my sympathy is less, the horse punchers were happy to back premier league cuebs and enforcement of FFP and their fans call us oil cheats when really they should have been with us (as should many others) in want fair financial regs not ones that create stagnation.

Newcastle are making it harder for themselves, Villa have a wealthy backer, it has took them a few years and shrewd investments but mainly appointing a good manager and now they are in the mix, top 4 last year was an overachievement for newcastle, and patience is the key.

Newcastle fans seem to forget it took us 3 years to click and the catalyst was getting rid of an inept one tactic manager and bringing in a winner, the only thing holding them back is Eddie Howe.

In the end FFP is a scam and Newcastle are being unfairly treated as have been Everton, Wolves and Fulham who all could compete and break into the summit if their owners could invest properly

But then pgmol would do their very best to ensure the less 'glamorous' clubs weren't in the top echelons for long. And no way would Sly or any of the others take a prolonged interest in clubs like, Fulham, Sheff Utd etc.
The rags and the dippers will always be looked after to ensure the money keeps coming in, ourselves, Arsenal and the Chavs are tolerated because of the wealth and the interest we attract: the smaller clubs are a minor irritant as far as the sport goes.
