93:12 was an amazing day, but in someways even that won't ever trump that 2011 FA Cup Final for finally breaking down that invisible barrier.

I remember my dad and uncles donning their rosettes and setting off for Wembley for the cup final in 1955! And then they came home knowing the cup was on its way to Newcasle! They went back with the same rosettes the next year and watched Roy Paul lift the cup. Even after the dismal sixties we were back winning trophies in '68, back at Wembley in '69 and '70, and again in '76 before we entered the even more, much more, dismal times. And then came the most glittering of all times, but the 35 years between the league cup win of '76 and the FA cup win of 2011 is only half the time between 1955 and 2025 that some Newcastle fans have had to endure. And some geordies will have lived their lives and never seen their team win a trophy. So, I was delighted too to see Newcastle win it, especially against Liverpool in the final and Arsenal in the semi. And their fans were magnificent, though the "Blaydon Races" was not sung as lustily as in 1955!

Yes, this was on the news at one. I though it very ungenerous and partial and made no reference to FSG's poor record on sexual harassment and employment matters in general.

Different reporters, I'm no fan of BBC sports , with their constant digs at us.
This wasn't either, it was some classless woman, but Roan and Stone can **** right off, they clearly hate City and I loathe their lack of professionalism.

Anyway, back to the football...
I enjoyed the game. Partly because I like to see Liverpool lose but mostly because I was happy for the Newcastle fans. I don't have a soft spot for Newcastle but having watched my team win a trophy for the first time in a long time (supporter from 81/82 and we did not win a trophy until 2011) and recalling the sheer joy of that day, I knew how you all felt.

Some may say, "Well, it's only a league cup" but I disagree. Seeing your team lift a trophy for the first time in a long time is a wonderful feeling. Beating Stoke at Wembley in 2011 gave me as much satisfaction as any trophy we have won since. If you are like me, you will have a permanent grin on your face for several more days. You are fully entitled to feel smug for at least a few weeks!

There is nothing wrong with the League Cup.

I have always considered it a major trophy and always will.

It was all we City supporters had to cling to from 1976 until 2011, and that wonderful goal by Dennis.

English teams can only win four titles in any given season; it’s not like they are hanging from trees.

Atmosphere is still really good and luckily there’s a Scouser on here that I can take the piss out of . Match goer too so I’ve let him off a bit . Took it in good humour actually .
 
Imagine not winning a domestic cup for 70 years and then when you do its the fucking league cup. Smug cunts with their empty seats chants conveniently forgetting they were getting less than 10k in the early 90's and had an unprecedented amount of empty seats the. Cunts.

I think I’ve read/heard about PIF and sportswashing in about 10 articles and 3 podcasts discussing the Newcastle win.

I would hate Delaney so much less if he didn’t try to give himself this “brave journo saying what no one else will” character.

The ultimate irony is that the most actual sportswashing is done by these journalists when they write about united, Liverpool and Arsenal.
 
BBC football joining in with are Newcastle fans happy with Saudi sports washing.
Funny how dippers were hoping for that kind of owners not too long ago.
 
Was at Newcastle yesterday. Expected the city to be buzzing, given it was also St Patrick's day. Whole city was dead. Although our local paper up hear does report they are planning an open top bus parade. Seems a bit excessive for the carabou cup but each to their own
