Tbf they missed some absolute sitters too. Game could of on gone either way. Thought their midfield won it for them.

Other than corners did we have any set pieces that were remotely close to the goal?

I did get a little frustrated when we tried to finesse the ball into the net instead of whaling away inside the box. But our misses (especially Foden’s) cost us dearly. That said, without Donna’s first half brilliance it could have been worse.

I thought Toon packed the middle of the park so as not to get overrun like Liverpool did and we used the wings where the space was too sparingly.
 
Newcastle was poor & we threw that away

You don’t start away to Newcastle with 3 small midfielders. Cherki, Bernie & Foden. That is stupid & all 3 bullied all game.

Pep cost us that with the timing of subs & the wrong subs.

At 1-1 he should be making subs to kill the game not going gung ho. Doku & bernie was fooked before they scored. Cherki did nothing all game but give it away.

To then bring savio on is just insane.

Pep has been tactically poor for 18 months. That’s the truth
 
Sums up exactly why we arent serious title contenders this year. Dippers and arsenal both won here.

After conceding the second, we had 20-25 minutes to find a goal, did we create a single serious chance? We spent 20 minutes of that time passing side to side cluelessly.

If there is no inventiveness then stop wasting fucking time and just get it lumped in and look take shots wherever possible, at least try and play percentages to come up with something. How do they think we are going to score going side to side infront of 11 men? This is why we almost never come up with big late goals anymore, we dont have it in us to fight back.

Said after the dippers result, it will all be for nothing if we don't beat Newcastle, we've just thrown away a chance to put some serious pressure on arsenal, a team who capitulate under pressure. instead, we've given them the perfect ammunition to go and beat Spurs tomorrow and give themselves a big clear gap at the top.
 
Frustrating as fuck that result.

The two questions marks over a title challenge this season was being competitive in the big games and grinding out wins against the likes of Newcastle, Villa and Brighton etc away from home.

I think we’ve managed the first up until now but are nowhere near the latter. We just have that lack of control and fight when it matters in these tough away games.
 
Average performance and a poor result. Said after the Villa game we'd have a few more of these results. Not enough intensity over the 90 odd minutes to get some type of a result.
