Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

The game commentator on MOTD said "due to the proximity the of his hand pen wasn't given". Or words to affect of.

What the biased beeb **** failed to say that his left hand was raised in an unnatural position therefore it was a clear penalty!

Another small reason why I'll never pay for a TV licence ever again.

****!

Yep, we certainly don't appear to have the kind of fighting spirit, guile or resilence that we used to have, and that's four games lost already, but even though we could be seven points behind Arsenal by close of play tomorrow, we still have 26 games left to play, so we just have to fight on and see where it takes us ..... Arsenal do look like the 'real deal' at the moment, but we've said the same thing about them in previous seasons, and yet they failed to win the title.

While City were on the end of several dubious decisions which handed the victory to Newcastle, several chances were squandered in the 1st half and it could have been much worse had it not been for Gianluigi Donnarumma. City’s 2nd half performance was very poor. It emphasised the lack of depth in squad, especially in the wide areas when compared with 3 years ago when Riyad Mahrez didn’t get into the starting eleven for the biggest games. Looking further back, Raheem Sterling’s goals and assists made him a far more effective player than Savinho and Oscar Bobb are now. Marmoush would have been a better bet than those two, and he was introduced too late. City need more depth, and more players need to take more responsibility. Have a shot, beat your man, cross the ball. City’s best outfield player in the 1st half was Doku, and even though he didn’t have a good 2nd half, he remained positive and tried to make things happen. Even though it wasn’t going for him after half time, he would have been more effective than the other two wingers that came on. He takes responsibility and that’s what players must do, as well as take their chances.

It’s insane isn’t it.

But at a time when fan apathy for internationals has never been higher, conversely the players seem more motivated than ever before to turn out in meaningless drab games for their countries.

Fuck knows why ? Is it a case of them virtue signalling to the sporting public that they’re not all money grabbing mercenaries and that playing for the love of their country is soooo important to them ?
A lot of them play for Countries they shouldn't be playing for, what is the point.

Thought we were on the wrong end of two decisions. The Foden penalty and the offside goal. Haaland should have scored at least one. Foden too. If you waste opportunities then shit happens.
Thought Doku's passing veered between excellent and awful. Donnarumma made some saves Ederson wouldn't have. That it we move on. We are a good team.

In the midst of all the crying over the refs we are forgetting that if Nico O either passes back to Gigi or just puts his foot through it rather than limply flicking it over his shoulder into no man's land for Newcastle to pick up then they don't score the first, really.poor football intelligence

You have to put your chances away especially away from home.
Plenty of teams will come away from Newcastle with no points.
Let's reset and go again midweek
Were more than capable. CTID
The away form is becoming a worry, and it's been a strength for us in some of our previous seasons ..... one thing's for sure, if you don't take your chances it doesn't matter whether you're playing at home or away, you'll still almost certainly come away with nowt!

Yep, he must hold his hands up and learn from that, if you're gonna hoof it clear, you make darn sure that you really DO hoof it clear .. properly!

The trouble was that O'Reilly awkwardly went to clear the ball upfield with left foot, when, from that position, he should have used his right foot ....
