Thats not the point. If they did their job properly we wouldnt be having this conversation about missed chances.
 
I for one have just decided to never talk about refs and their horrible decisions and focus solely on the performance.

It could’ve been 4-4 after 45 mins. Haaland weirdly could’ve had a hattrick and Foden should’ve scored at least once. But Newcastle had way better clearer and more chances. If their striker was good acc we could’ve been thrashed.

I really missed Rodri, the only reason why we rely on Bernardo so much is because Reinjders hasn’t come good and that’s very frustrating. That we could only put out that team against a struggling side with a physical midfield.

bad day at the office. The defence was poor, all over the place, Nico g left to drown, our best creators couldn’t hold onto to the ball our best players both had their worst games of the season.

The subs are what set me off. Wrong timing, wrong combination. What was Pep thinking ? We all knew that Newcastle we’re gonna close up shop and he takes off Doku and Cherki who are the best against low blocks and puts uninspiring players. The only sub that made sense was Reinjders but what was the point of playing Marmoush for 5 mins ? The starting lineup was fine but it was clear after 55 mins that we were not gonna make it.

I’m not gonna give up on this team just yet, but maybe it was too naive to expect the worst side last season to magically turn into the best side and win the league.

The ”leaping salmon" bit of the key point here. Have you ever seen Dias leap like that? I haven't.

I'm not going to give my usual "bollocks" verdict that I give to this type of post as there are some fair comments, but like it or not that match was settled by the officials. Regardless of anything else we did enough to match them and the last two goals were scrambled so to suggest that they were the better team...they had the better chances do in that respect they were worse than we were given that they missed them all.

It was never going to be an easy match and I would have taken a point at the start. I think the subs were possibly about resting players as it didn't look like we were going to get past them after they shut up shop and possibly Pep realised that, but there's a reason why he's the world's best coach and I'm not.

Not sure what "the worst side last season" means, we were dogged with injuries all season (can't believe I'm still having to point that out), yet still finished third and reached the cup final which virtually nobody on here thought possible in March.

We have every chance this season based on our play so far, many players don't fully settle until they've had at least one full season in the Prem and to do it in a successful team is a lot harder because expectations are higher, but they deserve a lot more credit than they're getting, on this forum in particular.

Nobody won or lost a title in November - although Liverpool are having a damn good try and if there's anything to take from it we did improve our goals scored and goal difference over them by 2 yesterday.

Anybody can fluff chances, even the world's best striker, but that's normal and therefore, to me at least, acceptable.

What is not acceptable is officials getting it wrong time after time, especially after they have been given the technology and staff to assist them in making sure exactly that doesn't happen.

ISN'T THAT THE WHOLE POINT OF VAR???

There have always been and always will be bad decisions but in this day and age it shouldn't be happening so often, yet the reality is there's now controversy in virtually every match. It's a total lottery.

So I'm sorry but I'd rather lose 4-0 after an off-form day than be robbed of a match, or at least a chance of winning it.

Thanks for posting this, stonewall evidence that it's bent which is one thing we've never had before. It's not just about opinions or being bitter any more.

I've also belonged for some time that to determine an offside all they need to do is run the footage until the computer picks up the angles and highlights the point at which it becomes offside, which with the tech we have now should take 10 seconds.

The angles are different, the TV footage camera is clearly higher up, so to clear any final controversy why don't they use the same camera angles as were seeing from the TV camera? Why do they feel the need to use a different camera?

I would love these shots to be sent to Sky and the FA to see what answers they give.

Does anyone suspect those officiating decisions didn't go out way due to the fall out from the whining about the Scouse "no goal" drama? Or am I overthinking it. Anyway the match itself was not bad and there wasn't much between the two teams. Not enough of our players have the killer instinct though atm. Games like that we've got to find a way of getting something out of the match. If not, there'll be more of those results unfortunately.
 
I think I’m more disappointed than anything. I didn’t think we would go the season without a hiccup but last night was the chance to kick on after the recent results and start to put pressure on arsenal.
It looked a bit lightweight in midfield and possibly could have gone either way reijnders over cherki.

Still a long way to go but yeah that was a Shame last night.
 
Leaving the ref, var aside, we had our usual problem.

Losing with a few minutes to go, and we're passing amongst ourselves, 5 yards in front of their penalty area, with precious few attempts.

20 years ago, prime rags would've BOMBARDED their keeper. I barely remember a decent attempt, after going 2-1 down, last night.

Just for once, shouldn't we be a bit more direct and actually test the opposition, instead of fannying around?

I like Richards but that’s a joke. The handball should be a pen as well. Both arms in front of body is not natural. If that’s anywhere else on pitch handball is given. On goal line that’s a pen and a red.
We deserved a point yday, those decisions were all key points and every one was given against us.
