It's mid November, 6 weeks ago the dippers were already "nailed on" champions, check their current position, the defeat yesterday won't dictate anything, arsenal are in good form at the momentno reason why they can't have a run like liverpool have had.

Just had a look at our record in the PL this season depending on whether we have more/less possession.

In games where we've had at least 50% possession, our record is P8 W4 D0 L4 (50% winrate). In games where we've had less than 49% possession, our record is P4 W3 D1 L0 (75% winrate) - and in those four games we've played United, Liverpool, Bournemouth, and Arsenal.

The games we've won with more possession have been against Wolves, Everton, Burnley, and Brentford. So two sides fighting to stay up and two teams who will be finishing in the bottom half. It seems pretty clear that against the bigger, better teams, we need to give up the ball.

Hopefully we go back to that system soon.

In terms of our next five PL games, against Leeds we'll be able to have more of the ball and win. Fulham too. Sunderland, I'd like to see us sit deeper and let them have a go at us. Same with Palace away. Then against West Ham we can try the same system that beat Everton, Burnley, et al.

This all comes down to what part of the shoulder/bicep area you use. If you look at the first pick and follow the line to the top of the arm its pretty much on the shoulder, the second image,even though elevated still looks accurate to where Dias was, they use the shirt sleeve ie the bicep.

The point being missed literally is the ball is bigger than a point added onto a screen.

The top of the ball would have been shoulder, the bottom the bicep. Would a goal be disallowed using that part of the body or a penalty given against a defender?

It should be just foot or head, what 99% of goals are scored with.

Watching the replays back..just look at the ref on the penalty call.
He is poorly positioned...not up with play,...now that might just be down to the blinding speed of our passing play, let's be quite clear it was slick mesmerizing deft passing which opened up Newcastle defence....so I can forgive the ref maybe for not being in a good position to see...
But..you can just tell by the refs body language....he does a couple of daft donkey jumps at the same time as he is being told n his ear piece,by others.....nothing to see...he's quite embarrassed about it,caught out.

Makes him looks silly.Just look at his body language.....he knows,he's bin told.
And I heard somebody say oh it's not a penalty because Foden got his shot away...
It was a clear foul in the box.Penalty.end off.


And huge credit for Foden ,playing on after taking that heavy blow to his left foot..perhaps it's easier to understand why he didn't score a bit later,I bet the wizards left foot was still numb from that horrendous tackle....you can't imagine how difficult it is to direct a ball exactly where you want it to go when your foot is numb.....
Still think we as fans forget the pain players go through every match,credit to Foden,he battled on,as he always does.
As an aside,that was prob the worse tackle on Foden....since Harry Maguire,playing for leicester city at the time,raked his studs down his Achilles I think,Foden was out for 3 months.

As another poster has said,in another thread,about Colin Bell being injured a lot,.These gifted players are targeted,and it takes real guts to go away from home and stand your ground,show your skill...knowing that there is no protection from the ref.
After coming back from international football,facing that ref and thos decisions....all in all
I'm very proud of the way City played yesterday at St James Park......we Will be back Geordies
And it will be Messy ; )

Agree. I'm just happy no-one was seriously injured .Watching Foden's nimble feet on Saturday was mesmerising . A lesser player would have definitely suffered more in that midfield bear pit .
 
Look, nothing is going to change or the media are not going to back City by calling them out

But it's a great way to wake everybody up at City and use it as a positive mental attitude to fire us up.
It's one of the lessons we learnt and now this rebuild and the players need to understand we have to take the referee and match officials out of the game by taking our chances,

We had 4 or 5 great chances to score, taking 2 of them would have won us the game, even with the dodgy offside goal
It's time to stop the moaning, it's time to take control of the games away from the match officials

Yep pep never says out about referees match after match opens his mouth once they report him going in the referees dressing room right after the game! The media don’t like us like to continually kick us reports as much negativity as possible! The media are full of 45+ who arse lick the usually teams they don’t like Man City being the main team and all we have to do is have a poor season to our standards finish 3rd and to them it’s a disaster season! We don’t win nothing this season they’ll be full of pep is finished! But the majority of them have backed Arteta since he came in now in his 6th year it’s looks like everything as aligned there squad is the best the contenders are still early in there build and one of them as falling of massively! That team Liverpool will get the media backing too to like they always do! We get none what’s so ever!
 
Don't know what goes on with the coaching but this slow build up with the pass pass pass is frustrating. The lack of movement is shocking at times. We seem incapable of playing the ball through the lines because nobody makes the runs. Plus our corners gave been shit for ages.

Remember Arsenal got a Pen for their striker running into a spread eagled big Eddie well after he had shot and Ake cleared it off the line

Perhaps. But how the dippers won those first six games was akin to a defiance of gravity. They were disjointed and poor most of the time but somehow carved out wins. The shit show over the last 6 weeks viewed in that context is not a surprise. In the recent past Arsenal have a habit of starting well but fading badly. This might just happen again but we are going to have to be a lot more resolute in adversity if we are to take advantage of any slip ups.
 
That defeat still hurts tbh.
I can't let it go. St James Park is a great stadium,been there many times,so many magical memories.i met Malcom Allison briefly on the way into the ground years ago when we we were rubbish.At the time City were awful away and after loads of pre match drinking round town,I now had to face the game.i was worried.... City away at Newcastle....I spotted Big Mal ..I walked up to him and said" bet you weren't scared when you came up here in in 68 Mal!.....I shook his hand..he just looked back at me with that cold eyed stare and a smile.....I've watched the 1968 game footage when we won the league and it's all raw natural adrenaline..you can feel the tension every moment..it was a belting game of football,last day of the season all or nothing... Newcastle had 50 thousand crowd and didn't want to lie down,they really wanted to stand up for the home supporters,they battled and fought,but City's Class with Bell and Lee meant that we won
A real hard fair and square match..Frank Clark turned out at full back
It saddends me that I look back on sat night and the game was reduced to basically a maths lesson with lines drawn and a weary oh well var have checked it....

What has. Football come to...when a genuinely brilliant passage of play is just ignorned by the commentary.
I give up..St James Park...one of my favorite away ground for so many reasons,... tainted now

I've said exactly the same numerous times this season. They don't seem to spend a great deal of time being coached at all. Any opportunity for a day off and Pep gives them extra time. Like you I despair, I'm sick of the slow side to side play and as for set pieces- give me strength. We just don't look fit.

Pep is being questioned? Well he is an elite manager he has won more trophies than many other also great managers. Combined.

If he say left MC and went to another club, I be upset if a MC fan. Genius.

And I'll moan as long as it takes to get that ref var match.....outta my head.
