You'd think Newcastle would be doing better with manager of the year Alan Pardew at the helm.

Not only that but they have some very good players. Certainly should be at least in the Top 10 with what they have, not barely surviving. Europa League might have taken its toll on them though.

This is the clear downside of the Europa League. You can do reasonably well in that competition but it can have the worst effect domestically if an injury to a key player happens or your squad is stretch to the end of the rubber band.

If we ever end up in the Europa League again it should be a clear and separate second eleven that takes the field.
