What a pleasant surprise I certainly wasn't expecting that. As somebody else said it's the first time we've controlled a game properly in months. Nico holding gave Gundo more licence to push forward and he almost looked like the Gundo of old. Our new center half was solid, Savinho superb, Marmoush brilliant and Rico looked more solid. Haaland a great battling center forwards display. McAtee certainly has an eye for goals if he's played more forward.

For the first time this season we have some promising shoots of hope amid all the gloom. A lot of young players too who will hopefully get better. Onwards and upwards!
 
for the first time in months i feel the re build has started, 3 excellent signings which we will add to in the summer, we'l be ready to go come August

Playing Kovacic has fucking ruined our season. Look at that difference today.

What we saw today was spectacular. Nico plays vs Madrid and we’re going into the game with a chance now.

But if not Kovacic who would have played there? He should have been told to play in a more disciplined way imo. Anyway don't want to bring things down after a great performance from the team
 
That first half was a throw back to the times we attacked with pace. His it was so much fun.

I thought everyone played well but special mention to the new three who were class and special mention to Eddie and Rico after all the criticism.

Marmoush movement nade a huge difference as did Nico doing the ‘simple’ stuff really well. Savinho worked so hard for the full match. Well done son.

Feels like we got scouting mojo back which is huge. With a good window this summer we probably win the league next season.
 
Fantastic performance from start to finish. God we need Marmoush and those runs in behind as it just opens the pitch up and gives us a threat we haven’t had.

Thought Newcastle were dogshit and came with their usual setup, but saying that we defended well and the back 5 including Ederson really played well.

Happy days and now a free hit on Wednesday in Madrid.

I believe that with Marmoush playing alongside him, this will make opposition defenders' choices impossible. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see his scoring rate go up.

That (home) debut reminded me so much of Rodri's debut.....I said about Rodri at the time he was always in the right place at the break down just like Gaz Barry used to be....same with Nico- always there at the right spot and just like Rodri he is exceptionally cool under pressure....just gives a simple calm pass.

An awful lot to feel confident about with that performance from Nico...

Foden so much better in the middle where he can get on the half turn - that is his game and playing him wide does not allow him to do that as much.

Gvardiol's last few games have been his best ever in a city shirt....we know he can attack but defensively so much improved

Stones -I just hope/wish that he can stay fit....he makes one hell of a difference.

Khusonov - this lad is brave - he just puts his head into areas where boots are flying....his passing is also excellent and he loves the physical battle.

Edersons passing today was borderline ridiculous....baring one heart stopping one early in the first half to Gundo (who did extremely well tbf to get out of it) he made some creative midfielders look bad it was so good between the lines (and obviously long passes as well)

Haaland loves responsibility and I do wonder if Pep made him captain to try and drag that extra % out of him.....it worked when it would have been obvious to give the captaincy to either Gundo or even Stones.

Marmoush can finish.....we now have a goal threat from either outwide or the no.10 role....technically excellent, pace and a clever player as well who can slow the game down and speed it up at the right time.

I saw something today that has been missing all season....those little 3-4 yd passes between players which to some seem pointless but are designed to keep the opposition changing position and also to slow the game down and keep possession....Nico was doing it with everyone - we used to see it from Yaya to David Silva a lot....or Gundo and Rodri pre Gundo leaving for Barca......today it was back

Doku looked hungry and brave as ever coming on - happy for McAtee as well - got the goal while being clearly fouled.
