Newcastle United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Refreshing, not sure if N'Castle were poor or we were just really good.

Impressed with:
Khusanov - Looked assured and aggressive, a decent passer between the lines too.

Stones - absolute class of a player, reads the game so well.

Savinho - best player on the pitch for me, everything good came through him.

Marmoush - Good finishing.
Nico - Good composure and positioning.
Gvardiol - Looks switched on.

Dissapointed with:
Foden - Doesn't affect the game from the middle as he should, Physical doesn't look like he can dominate that area nor does he do enough creatively.

Rico Lewis - Can't see what he offers playing central, passes sideways or backwards and dwells on the ball, think his best position would be as a defensive RW or offensive RWB

Ederson - prefer not to speak.

Who predicted that? Don't mind admitting i feared the worst today, would never have expected that performance. First half was the best football we've played all season. We finally played quick, direct football that suits what we've got up front and it led to goals galore and many other opportunities too. That's the football we need to be playing with this squad. Marmoush and savinho thrived off the fast tempo, haaland had one of his most involved games in a blue shirt and did everything you'd want from a complete striker.

Have to mention how poor newcastle were too for as good as we were. Thankful for it but i've not seen them that bad all season. Geordie support took 30 seconds to sing about empty sits as people were still entering the ground, only thing they sang all game, were crap throughout and had empty seats in abundance well before the final whistle.

We simply have to play in that manner for the remainder of the season. Huge boost in pursuit of top 5, lots of teams involved, they'll be slip ups by them all. Time for us to show we are a level or two above.

What today showed me was that despite the absolute shit-show of this season, we aren’t that far away. It’s been doom and gloom for months but today gives me hope. Next season, I expect us to be back challenging again.

It's crazy isn't it? In spite of losing 5-1 against Arsenal and 4-0 against Spurs we have the best goal difference in the top six outside the top two. It's bloody frustrating throwing those stupid points away as if we hadn't we would have still been in the title race.

Long time since I've seen number so high on the BBC

Didn’t like Edersons assist then?

Shame after the season we’ve had so far you can’t appreciate a decent team performance

Pleased for Rico, that will do his confidence the world of good, he must have been on a downer after recent performances,i think the key with him is not asking him to do to much, give him the one job and he will do it
He looked so much more assured today.

Easy to say that Newcastle were poor but in reality we just played really good, and when we play really good we can make any team in world football look poor.

Enjoyed the game and performance a lot today, felt like a look into the future and new generation of this city team.

Great win and a clean sheet with that defence was an added bonus
Great performances from the new guys
Gives us a bit of hope for next Wednesday
Gundo was much better too with fresher legs next to him

The frustration all season has been that it’s all been on us. Pep has always said that if we were to lose our crown, make sure that it’s because others have been better, don’t just give it away. We have given it away.

These Liverpool and Arsenal sides can’t fucking touch us at our best but we have fallen so far, we have literally handed the PL on a plate.

The positive of this, is that I don’t fear any of these sides going forward. We sort ourselves out and it will be ours again.

All I can add we won a lot of second ball

Excellent one and all today, we seemed fresher fitter and were more positive, self belief is important but believing in your team mates and having the confidence to express yourself is the thing which will get us back to our best.
I thought Omar was excellent Khusanov really good, Gonzalez enabled so us to play, Haalands leadership was exactly what I want from a Captain and it seemed to inspire him as much as anyone else.
Great to see us getting fitter and fitter, we've had some real bad luck this season and the media have had a field day and can't wait or resist stick their knifes in our backs.
I was also pleased for Pep who has been through it on and off the pitch, finally from me, well done to the fans who really deserved that performance, loud and proud.
Have a good night Blues.
