Newcastle United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Big win. Nice to win with a bit of grit. I think Rodri at his best stops Newcastle being able to press like that 2nd half with the ball at his feet. I was a bit disappointed how much success Dan Burn had against Haaland 1 on 1 but he was brilliant at the other end of the pitch. Donnarumma with another outrageous save at the end to keep the points! COYB.

The bonus of course is that our next three games really ought to yield nine points. Huge pressure on Arse now, and I think Spuds will nick a draw tomorrow. One thing's for sure, they'll give it everything.

Great result.

Brilliant goals.

Defence looked far more settled with Khusanov in there.

Cherki looks bright in patches but need to see more of it.

Serious concerns, though, about fitness levels in our midfield. We look absolutely shot by 65-70 minutes and can’t keep the ball.

A win though, in a must-win game to keep the pressure on the Gooners. Happy blue.

Great result but again a fucking awful second half in terms of quality and ball retention

I get that its the result that matters but that performance second half was simply sloppy....we have too many players who either havent got the brains to retain the ball or the ability or both.....Semenyo was shocking, RAN just hoofing up as high as he could and what was Bernardo thinking at times..

Lack of quality on the break as well...Senenyo and RAN very guilty in this respect again...

We were at home and we played like we were away allowing Newcastle just to thump high balls at our back line.

Positives were Khusonov in the second half and obviously NOR ...Haaland with some good touches but he is trying to run past 3 or four defenders at times and simply loses the ball as well. Cherki did well in bits as well

The uality of this team is no where near the standards of past title winning teams.....

Yes the result matters most BUT that was very poor in terms of quality in the second half.....

Job done. Was it pretty? Not in the second half, no. But how many top notch saves did Donna Summer have to make? Not all that many, considering that Newcastle had a lot of the ball in that second half. But, to quote an old saying; win ugly. The Tarqs couldn't manage it the other night, against a poorer opponent.

Donnarumma, Haaland, Nico, Khusanov, Guehi all fantastic.

The rest wern't good enough tbh. Bernardo was horrendous, Semenyo was miles off it & Ait-Nouri was sloppy in his big moments.
