Idk how Pep could watch Akanji there versus Sevilla and go right back to it... I think it will be a more traditional back four... I hope, anyway.

It’s because Akanji is better playing out from the back compared to Ake, Ake is the better defender, Akanji is better in progressing the ball

Akanji doing the stones role again terrifies me, he's not good enough at it. on the ball too slow and loses it in danger positions and without the ball he doesn't drop in quick enough leaving an easy ball behind for thwir quick forwards. Best hope the starting 11 do the business because fuck me that's a piss weak bench.

Kovacic will play deep with Rodri and it will tilt right to have Walker wide right and get Foden in central pockets.

Games against Newcastle are invariably of the blood and thunder variety, and in the circumstances that starting eleven is the best we can field. The bench is such that, unless things go very well for us, then one can only see Ake and perhaps Palmer being summoned. This evening should give a clearer indication of just how long we can get by with that.
