A change of ownership allows a new owner to agree a managed plan for investment with UEFA without needing to meet the break-even requirement.
I believe such clubs have to return to profitability in 4 years (one year longer than we got!). This is a very tight schedule in view of the level of investment required reach the top level and the market value condition applied sponsorship from parties deemed related. As a point of info, PB, are you aware of any club that has found returning to profitability under these conditions anything other than irrelevant or disastrous?
If the takeover happens they should start to improve with the right manager and investment. It, therefore, follows that Newcastle could start to appear regularly in European competition. I wonder if they play Ajax would their fans be allowed to hoist a huge racist banner, similar to the one they had for our game against them? Blues will remember the banner with the ‘swarthy Arabs’ grabbing money bags. Unsurprisingly, the media or uefa didn’t seem to notice.
