Considering Bruce's track record for overpaying for crap players at his old paymasters. Let's hope he gets the bullet before Newcastle get to the transfer window. I could see the rags being debt free by February with £60m bids for Phil the face and Brandon Williams

You are right but he is actually an excellent player, possibly United's best at the moment, and I can't see them letting him go. He seems to have got his fitness and weight under control these days. He could probably get in our team at left back.
Rags forums disagree with that hype about Shaw. It was media driven during the Euros. He was been badly out of position for quite a few goals this Season, and I have watched 90 % of their games.
He still looks quite big to me, perhaps I have the screen on a poor setting. Doesn't recover particularly well after turnover,And his distribution not of our required level.
All of United's back line gets praise yet they hardly ever keep a clean sheet, despite the protection of the mcfred duo.

He might.

It's much drier, doesn't rain as much, and has clearer skies, not to mention it has fantastic beaches, countryside, and scenery. It's colder, and gets more snow. Edinburgh is only an hour away. All foreign people love Edinburgh. He'll love the Big Market and the Quayside. Not to mention the Women, Newkie Brown, and tabs. Flights to Portugal take 30 minutes longer.

It's nailed on for a £100mill transfer. Lets bleed the Saudis dry. Excuse the pun.

It really is exceptional isn't it?

Mcfred duo is a joke. That's half their problem.

There's absolutely no chance they will win the league within the next 5 years. They'd have to go from relegation candidates and overtake City, Chelsea, United, Liverpool - even established teams like Leicester and Everton struggle to do that. I don't think some of these people realise just how good we are either! Even if we had a poor season, we'd finish 4th and Chelsea would win it. Even Liverpool nearly matched our 100 points season, that's how high the bar is.

When Mancini won it for us, I don't think - at the time - we necessarily realised just how good some of our players were. Kompany became a legend that season, Silva was outstanding, Yaya changed games on his own, Hart was world class, Aguero was world class, Zaba was outstanding, Tevez was world class, Barry was very solid, De Jong was outstanding, Clichy was solid. That's nearly the full team who weren't "megastars" when we bought them, but became legends with the right manager. You just can't buy that! Plus, how long did it take for us to replace Kompany? Who'd have guessed his replacement was hiding in an average Portuguese league!

If they want to win the league "quickly" (6-7 years) they'd have to probably have the best recruitment drive of all time. It will cost a LOT - probably nearer to £2bn than £1bn as well. Unless they are going to break world records, I just don't see them winning the league for at least 10 years, no matter how much money they have!

Fair comment. I don't watch Shaw every week but I think he and Kyle Walker have been impressive for England. I think the United backline is pretty poor. Varane is over-rated and so is De Gea. Lindelof is a terrible player, not good enough for the PL.

I think you are setting the bar a bit high - he's got two working knees and isn't going to prison. This would be a substantial upgrade for us :-/

I concede he did well in the Euros.
