Still think they're looking like going down.

Of course they could spend millions in January but will they get the right players, i'm not so sure. Wilson and ASM also picked up injuries that look like they'll be out for a while.

United were the perfect team for them to face yesterday, they're arguably the most disjointed team in the league being bailed out by moments. United made Newcastle look good.

New manager bounce hasn't done too much for them either:
Bruce - 3 points from 8 games.
Jones - 2 points from 3 games.
Howe - 6 points from 8 games. (Has had tough games but also had Norwich and Burnley at home)

Nobody averaging a point a game.

Next games:
28th Dec - Everton (A)
2nd Jan - Southampton (A)
8th Jan - Cambridge (H) - FA Cup
15th Jan - Watford (H)
22nd Jan - Leeds (A)
8th Feb - Everton (H)

If they can't average a point a game in those games then they'll be in the shit.

Watford at home they have to target a win which probably means they need plenty of signings in the 1st week on January.
A point a game takes them to 30 points. Unless it's a very unusual season that wont be enough.

Was at the Newcastle match last night. Great atmosphere. The place was rocking from before kick off till the end of the match. Not many early leavers despite transport issues. Newcastle were good but boy were united shit. Ronaldo walked all match. He is taking the piss. Put more effort into his lunge than he did into anything else (looked a red on pitch but not seen replays). Petulant fkr. Harry Quagmire was shitting his pants every time the ball was heading his way....
Geordies rattled Ronaldo. Couldn't see his running off the ball on TV but attitude of Penandes and Ronaldo was a disgrace. RedNev described it as whinge, whinge, whinge.

Yeah a point game across the 19 won't be enough but I meant specifically those 5, although with Watford in those 5 it probably needs to be more than a point a game. Especially with none of the big boys there.

I do think it will be a low points total to stay up though. Could be 31-35.

Didn't see their last game ( or indeed any of their games) but read a few reports.
Apparently Eddie Howe says " we can beat anybody on our day " or words to that effect.
Fast Eddie .. your 2nd from bottom mate, and you scraped a draw against one of the worst man Utd teams in the last 47 years pal
Where are you going with that silly media hype??
When the manger chats shit it don't look gud for the club as a whole.
Out of his depth springs to mind..
I think it’s rather harsh to say that they "scraped a draw" against the rags. If anything, it was the other way around. Newcastle were the better team for large parts of the game, and some of the officials' decisions were shockingly biased in favour of the shite from Trafford.

And if Howe doesn’t publicly back his players, what is the point in him being the Toon manager?

All the United players were whinging none stop to officials even coming on the pitch at start of second half. I thought they crowded the ref on more than one occasion and the language I heard directed to a lino by United players (even for obvious throw ins was worthy of several cards. Wonder if this is the 'pressing,' new tactic we have heard all about...

They showed some spunk against us and the rags. Of course, just spunk is good enough to almost beat the rags. With those two front players getting knacked though, they’re done for this season.
There's never enough spunk.

The Rag result is another false dawn , nearly every other team in the league would have battered them , the barcodes are going down and being the richest club in the world in the Championship will only incentivise the competition to return to the Premier league.
Sheik Mansour was always being accused of his purchase of our club being a plaything and he would walk away when he got bored , it is more likely the new owners of the Geordies will get bored of second tier football and realising they have at least a decade of pain fighting the Premier league , UEFA & FFP , this might not be the dream ticket the Geordies think it is.

Don’t you think they recognised the reality of the situation, when they completed the purchase of the club?

It was obvious to everyone that Newcastle were in a dire position and could easily be relegated.

People, who build such financial empires, aren’t quitters, and, I’m sure will be determined to make a success of Newcastle.

I have a gut feeling they will stay up. They are a poor quality side but there is still spirit in the players and the fans. Just a couple of decent signings would make a difference. Could they get someone like Ward Prowse, Trippier, or Coady on big wages? They could sign some people on 12 month contracts. I think Norwich, Burnley, and Watford are going down (perhaps even Leeds). It will be close though.
