Newcastle United thread | 2025/26

Newcastle have agreed a deal to sign Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on a season-long loan with an option to buy next summer; the 27-year-old has been given permission to travel for a medical, which will take place on Wednesday
I was hoping that Ramsdale, the relegation specialist, would end up at the swamp.

I listened to some of it and just sounds like he is blaming the media for Newcastle not signing players. IF Newcastle can not convince players to join them instead of joining a club that is not in the champions league/Europe then they have bigger problems than the media. Newcastle apparently don't have a CEO or a Sporting Director. So who is 'selling the dream' to transfer targets?

The media being focused on clubs wit the perceived larger fanbases is nothing to do with clubs paying them! It is financial though. One produces a negative headline about Man City, for example, you will get far more traction and ad revenue than if it was just a positive headline aimed at the City fanbase.

On the Sesko media reporting. It is just the same blinking thing. Sky will say "we understand 'the scum' are liking Sesko'. Later it will be 'Leipzig believed to be open to offer from 'the scum'.

It will continue in this pattern and they will throw in nonsense and repetitive stuff about 'Isak's future' to attract Liverpool fans. They know fuck all but change a few words and kerching!

How are this so called "massive club" who are apparently much bigger than city with a "larger" fanbase getting rejected by everyone? haha they forget they are only relevant in the North East. No sympathy from me

The fact that Howe seems a decent fella with little baggage has covered up for the absolute shit state Newcastle are in. They seem to have serous problems above Howe. Stavely apparently cashed her shares in as she needed the money and the rumour was the club wanted her fella out of the way. Howe apparently doesn’t like a DoF above him so that’s created issues. They now seem to be looking at there d list of players. Ramsdale?? Jackson from Chelsea after the media negotiate the sesko deal for manure. Wouldn’t be shocked if the Saudi lot left as quickly as they came.

They are a big club, no doubt about that. They’re an even bigger club - in Newcastle.

Same with Leeds. Fans of both clubs, Villa and Spurs too think they’re bigger than us.

I think people who worry about what size a football club is compared to another have issues. Like when a really small person buys the biggest car they could possibly drive.

Was speaking with a geordie fella on holiday

I had no idea what he was saying

Probably something about running out of chips - fat bastard..

How ironic is is it, that he is doing, what the people he complains about, are doing?
He hasn't taken to twitter/pub to share his views. He has made a video, with one of those attention grabbing clickbait titles, on a platform that offers monetary gain!
He even has a go at the fans of clubs he 'doesn't like,' in the video, to go along with the clickbait title, even though his clear intention is to draw them in as viewers.
The outset shows it is the same inflammatory crap. The old "Hey City fans look at my video title! see I think the same as you! come watch!"
Like I say, he's no different to ANY of the charlatans. He knows the audience he wants to attract and he's gone for it.
The irony is lost on him though.

This is a bit ott, but tbh if I was a Newcastle fan I'd be fuming with the media. Not so much reporting news as actively promoting the I tests of Liverpool/utd and inserting themselves into the drama.
I did think that once Newcastle overstepped the line by winning a cup and taking a European place they may be in for a rocky ride - similar to the shift we experienced from 'money doesn't buy success' to 'you've bought your success'.

It’s well known that Romano takes money from clubs and agents to set an agenda. He’s been outed in the media for it before, and just before the club World Cup he was outed for taking payments from FIFA to promote the competition and all of a sudden he put in how each transfer move was in preparation for it.

You’ve got it spot on, you have to remember that we now have had 3 consecutive seasons of the top 6 (although I admit how you are separates from them politically) losing a Champions League position to us and Villa, with Nottingham Forest getting dangerously close to getting one last season.
That’s not on as far as they are contend. I think the media have worked for the benefit of other clubs and players themselves. We have been dragged along by them for their own benefit, of course that’s something we should have noticed and perhaps moved on faster.

Everything is about those clubs in the media though. Morecambe went bust earlier this week, and Sheffield Wednesday are in danger of doing the same. There is no mention of it in the media though, even when they move away from the Isak story, they still ran it on about how Cunha has went to Man Utd. The Crystal Palace situation as well, it took Sky Sports etc 2-3 years to break the news about them being demoted to the Conference League as well, even then it’s a 2 minute segment out of each 1 hour slot. Crystal Palace have been mentioned more in the news in relation to Guehi going to Liverpool, than their UEFA woes have been.

He should just admit that they are not a big club yet.Still a selling club.
Weird to think 2 seasons ago City was their pet hate.
We aren’t really a selling club though under the new owners. Any player we have sold under them was a player we should have been replacing in anyway. The only exception you have to that is ASM, who we sold to Saudi Arabia, and we replaced with both Gordon, and Barnes.
The fact that Liverpool have had to revert getting Isak to throw his toys out of the pram in an attempt to force us to sell is quite telling.
