Newport (FA Cup) Post Match Thread

The biggest thing to come out of this will be the first match kids who came to support Newport will have seen the skills of City and will be part of the new generation of City fans, it's how the other clubs gain their fan base and the way it was 50 years ago for us older fans who sat around a massive TV with a small screen were brainwashed into following City.
What a wonderful journey, champions to champions.
Newport played an honest game on a pitch they did their best to get it as good as they could and they will remember yesterday for day City came to town and they got to see Pep in the flesh such is his standing.
 
I would just like to thank two of our travelling fans for yesterday. I couldn't get a front row ticket for Newport so was in row G on the aisle because the ticket office thought that would still give me a view although sitting down. Unfortunately this was not possible as, of course, people were standing there. (I am not criticising or anything, that is the norm & is fine.) I politely asked two of the lads if they could just move over a little and explained my dilemma. Not only did they move with a lovely apology but one of them went down to the front row and asked a supporter there if they would swap places with me. Without a hesitation this second fan agreed and they moved me to the front row. I say without hesitation because it happened so quickly.

Thank you lads, huge thanks. If either of you are on here I hope you recognise yourselves. You were stars. Once again our wonderful fans show their class.


p.s. The Newport fans were also brilliant. So friendly and just asking me to let them score one goal and another said please don't humiliate us!!................ On my way back to the station I had to stop for a rest a couple of times and a group of them came over to ask if I was all right and could they help. I reassured them that I was just taking a breather because I can't always walk too far these days. But again shows how there is so much good in this world still. :-) :-)

Fantastic story Eccles Blue and well done to all involved.
 
@paulchapo before the match when his team were warming up in front of our stand a couple of our fans shouted across to him and he walked over to talk to them for a minute or so. He could, of course, have known them personally, but whatever it was good of him at what must have been a tense time for him to come over and speak and not just give them a wave. Seemed a good man.

Nice of him when as you said it must have been a tense time. Yesterday was what football should be about, a lot of passion but plenty of mutual respect and humour. This often gets lost at the top level with the pressure and hatred that seems to exist.
