During this transitional period and still needing Dunn, you cant strip him of his captancy whilst other players are still settling in and the team are developing. Maybe next season a change will ensue.

Kompany's natural position is CB. he plays in that position for his national team.
He should replace Dunne as Dunne has become a liability.
Check out the match day thread. You will see that EVERYONE who posted in it said, after Dunne was booked and then later given a "final warning", everyone said that he should be taken off because he will soon get a red card...and so he did. Face it Dunne is a liability, even if he is our captain.
Good response and totally correct. The best footballers and leaders have to show some intelligence. Dunnie is all brawn and no brains, a great trier and servant of the club but no more than that. Those who want him to stay as our leader have good intentions at heart, but they are WRONG.

There are fuck all leaders in this team at the moment. Look at the defence it has got worst since Hughes has been in charge under Sven and Pearce we had a strong backbone and players knew there role in defending. Under Hughes this has gone Dunne I think is trying too hard to cover for his teammates. Given has been the plus but I cant see him being named as captain but he will be the one to sort out the defence.
Midfield look Kompany captain material? Not yet I would rather see Ireland getting the armband ahead of Kompany. Ireland is vocal in the team this year and is for me the midfield leader who is and has been speaking out about players not giving there all that is captain material and in a way tonight we have seen Elano at his best and Robhino coming back into some sort of form. Ireland would be my captain and it would be nice to give it to a player who has come up from the youth team and Ireland is the ideal person as he has the respect of every player in the team.

we should have got bought Parker in January so he could allow Kompany to move back to CB and take Dunney's place, allowing Dunney to be dropped.
we should do it in the summer with another tough midfield player (you'd think we could do a lot better than Parker though with the whole summer to buy rather than the pressure of the January clock ticking)

Great point, and it took a truly great manager to do it. You have to look at what is best for the greater good of the team. What's most obvious is that the captain needs to remain on the pitch, he can't lead from the (early) bath.
