Next General Election

They’ll do full term.
They’ll need as long as possible to clear the shit show they are currently overseeing.

It's a strange one for the nasty twats. On the one hand, they won a huge majority with their 'get brexit done' slogan, but many of the red wall (Northern Peasants) MP's have slender majorities, just a few hundred votes in most cases. It won't take much of a swing for them to be dumped.

In the By-elections that have taken place since the general election, the tory vote has fallen off a cliff.

They haven't got brexit done, they are not 'building back better' the lack of import checks hasn't fooled most but the most ardent brexit supporters, and they are increasingly being seen as nothing more than lying, clueless incompetents without any plan other than corrupt money making schemes for themselves and their friends.

You'll always have the 'I'm a natural conservative' supporters that are blind to the damage this shower of shit are doing to the country, but old Colonels with their comfortable lifestyles and contributions to the tory cause are starting to be replaced by, 'you've never had it so bad under a tory government'

I don't know when the next election will be, but the £20 a week cut in Universal Credit, which most people receiving are in employment, plus the National Insurance rise means a huge swathe of the population will soon be £1,300 a year worse off, and that's without including the increases in energy costs the government can't be bothered sorting out.

Yeah, Boris Johnson, with his £1,000 a roll wallpaper, really is stealing from the poor to protect his party donors and I don't imagine for a second any one of the sycophants in his cabinet or nodding donkeys on the back benches have ever put anything other than a falling drop of dandruff as they wafted by a food bank bin.

I feel that it will be sooner rather than later. Things will only get worse as he promotes people who are loyal but aren't competent for the job. The RW media will go into hyper drive with every lie you can think about. The opposition will have to enter into a full election pact or they will split the vote against. Starmer is to tame - he still thinks he is in the courtroom; he needs to get a bit more 'angry' and do a bit of 'tub thumping'.

I think that early will suit them better than later - the backdrop will be bad but will just keep getting worse if they go full term - with furlough ending - £20 being snatched back - falling in opinion polls - failure in Afghanistan - Brexit shambles - empty shelves - utility prices going through the roof - I could go on with more and more negatives but a full term will reveal their inadequacies. I'd expect a narrow Tory win with them jettisoning Johnson soon after because of it.

Think this winter will be so grim any early election will work against them. Already sod all on the shelves and that's before the weather's turned and the flu mingles with Covid.
And when the weather does turn we can all look forward to significantly more expensive gas bills to keep the house warm thanks for his bullshit Brexit bollocks

I can only see a Tory victory but with a reduced majority on a lower turnout. The gerrymandering will help, as will the farcical Voter ID move.

I have thought for a while that Labour are finished, Starmer is quietly moving the party rightwards and is alienating the left, who will be politically homeless and maybe will not vote or vote for minority parties. Hence the non Tory vote will be fragmented.

What is always overlooked is the issue of competence. Most voters dont like the tory party - that statement holds true across all elections in my life time. But without a competent alternative the votes don't materialise for anything else.

The most significant thing Tony Blair did was form a cohesive and competent alternative. The fact he was slightly more right than previous labour leaders is much less relevant. What he did was silence the loonies and nutters in the party and that made the difference. Those nutters are back with bells on and as long as they are Labour have no chance. Tories look over at Labour and they see a shit show and they have no fear of facing them in an election.

Perceived competence.

It’s difficult to argue this shower of shit are anything other than incompetent when they have to rely on lying about the most basic things such as working an extra two hours for £20.

Fully agree - this is the least competent government possibly of all time. But at the last election it was this lot or the likes of, Barry F'ing Gardiner and Diane Abbot. Its an all time low - on both front benches.
