I took 15/2 on Cooper just in case Corbyn dosen't win it outright in the first round if he fails cooper looks a good bet with 2nd votes counting
If I win the 7.5 k winnings will pay for a nice holiday

The hard left and hard right will be very happy tonight. It's a bad day for the rest of us who want a credible opposition over the next 10 years who could provide realistic scrutiny of the excesses of a right wing government that can now do anything it wants.

You need to have a little faith, it's not the end of the bleedin world! When the right of the Labour party wins, well there you go, normal service is resumed! If the left wins it's a catastrophe and various stuffed shirts start screaming mutiny and we're doomed.

And don't give me any 2020 election bollocks, if you think the other three, Curly, Larry and Moe were taking Labour to victory in 2020 then can I have some of whatever your smoking?

Take a deep breath, the sun will still rise on Sunday morning, who knows? "Things can only get better".

Meanwhile, the latest poll indicates that Donald Trump has increased his lead in the race to secure the Republican nomination.

If this government fails why would anyone still consider a vote for Corbyn? The man for a start intends to ruin and alienate anyone who enjoys making money, in a capitalist culture and society that for a start is political suicide. It is a common misconception that the vast majority in this country are either far left or right. The centre is the vote that always wins elections where no real outright winner can be seen, the lack of leadership from the Tory's was the reason Blair was so successful, the tables have now turned and Labour need leadership not radical ideas.

A lurch to the extreme left will gather many votes from the left and also those who are now showing sympathy to those in plight but certainly they will change their minds when such a radical change will be at your own expense. Ultimately Corbyn alienates the other 80% of the population and even a lot of MP's in his party who don't want socialism but rather just something normal. He may well win the Labour election and fair enough if he wins but remember he has only gathered support from a % of Labour voters, not the rest of the voting public.

Personally I believe the Tory's will have a field day if Corbyn gets in because they can so easily dismantle his policies which are at the moment based upon the same facts and logic told by a local drunk in the pub. The only real danger is the transition the Tory's will have when it comes to changing leader but even then whoever they pick will probably end up the sane option compared to Corbyn.

Maybe you haven't noticed but the tories are a LOT further to the right than they were even under thatcher, so Corbyns policies are closer to traditional Labour values than they have been in the last 25 years.
In the social circles I move in there is a very real sense of disdain for the "career politicians" and Corbyn is the alternative, and one that will attempt to put people first, not multi national corporations and multi millionaire's with their offshore accounts

The electorate wholeheartedly voted in the Tory's just 4 months ago lets not forget. Labour are voting for their leader, not the next prime minister for the rest of the country. The actual amount of people voting for Corbyn in the leadership election and supporting him moving forwards represents about 2% of the voting public.

I wouldn't say 24% could be classes as "wholehearted support"

Corbyn was a local government councillor from the age of 25 to 34 and has been an MP ever since. If that's not a career politician I'd like to know what is.

How many at the top of the main parties finished university took an internship at "their" party and have never worked outside the Westminster Bubble?
Kendal has admitted that they "misread" the mood of the party, I believe that the tories are misreading the mood of the nation, though time will tell, and a lot may depend on the speed that the media's hold on issues in the public mind wanes

Can you donate any other thousand pounds that you don't need to Manchester Dogs Home instead.
King Arthur, Red Ken, Deadly Derek Hatton, Gorgeous George and the rest of the Trotskyist throwbacks will be putting their best suits in for dry cleaning awaiting Jezzer's call to the big red tent.
