It's an extemely complex way of getting new players onto the teams each year. Basically, the lowest ranking team ( eg. Reading in the Premier League ) has first choice of the new/best players......BUT they can swap with another team for a another player so have the pick later on in the draft. The top draft might be a quaterback but the lowest rank team might feel they need to recruit in another postion so they might swap with another team who needs a QB more.

The idea is that it ' levels the playing field ' so, for this year Baltimore, who won the SuperBowl get the last choice....BUT another team may give up their draft and swap with Baltimore..........

Very simplistic way of explaining a very complex system.......

And it does a great job of evening everything out to be honest.

Round one is the first pint a group buys and draft is a form of lager that comes out of a pump rather than a bottle.

every team will have every available stat on every player. The competition for places is white-hot, made worse by the fact there is no safety of non-league, you make it or move on to another sport.
To get picked at any stage of the draft will be a mighty achievement, failing that free agency is an option. The average playing career in the NFL is around four years, but if he gets on a roster he probably wont need to work again, good luck to the lad

Redskins don't have a pick til 51 , he will be available then but I suspect they'll go for a safety

The NFL Network pundits just did their mock first round draft and they had Watson going to the Packers at 26th pick, that would suit me. On the other hand their pundits may be as knowledgeable as Lawro and Shearer.

I go to Florida State! (the college he played football for) and he was a key part of our team this year! Never did see him walking around campus in a City jersey but still good to know he is a blue ;)
